Now that both teams are at full attention from yesterday's wake up calls, I'd say this game Thursday will be a
"Whoa Nelly" type game.

RE: Arkansas State at Appalachian State Discussion thread
I consider a "BIG Game" a game against any P5 or a game that has a lot on the line or a game where we can make a statement. Let's take a look at some games I considered big under Anderson on the road:

Last year
@ Tennessee - Loss
@ Miami - Loss
@ ULL - Loss
@ Go Daddy Bowl vs Toledo - Loss

This year
@ USC - Loss
@ Toledo - Loss
@ App State - ???

Granted we should lose some of those games, but we've barely shown up in most of them. Throw in a home game against Mizzou we let slip away.

We've not run more than 1 trick play in a game this year. We might try one against App, but that won't happen until we can become certain the App defense is over pursuing.

The first quarter against Georgia State was weird. After barely passing at all against ULL, we came out committed to throwing the football, almost as if we were trying to prove something to the people claiming Knighten can't pass. It's almost like we intentionally did it to prove to App State that we can pass the ball, despite the issues we have had all season doing it.

Idk, I was actually kind of worried about Troy all week. And they gave us quite the scare. But for some reason, I don't feel worried at all for this one. I feel extremely confident actually. Just feel like our coaches are gonna make the necessary adjustments and our defense won't struggle like that again.

As far as the game goes, App most keep Ark St qb in the pocket, if he gets outside of containment, he will have a lot of success. Personally, I think App have become so dependent on the running game, that the passing game has suffered, we only pass when absolutely necessary, and very little aggressive, down the field passing, Lamb has been taught, unless they are absolutely, wide open you don't throw he ball. Eventually, maybe this week, someone is going to shut down our running game, maybe Ark State, and I'm afraid we are going to have to win a game throwing the ball 25 to 30 times, not sure we can do it.

Should I call the wahmbulance for you? Jesus Christ. And as far as actual game observations go I'm not sure we're watching the same games. Most of our shots are down field passes off a play action, and I've seen Taylor throw more than one deep ball into double coverage, so I don't know where you get the notion that he's been taugh blah blah blah.. Our passing game is more than adequate for the scheme we run. One more thing, we just won a game last night throwing the ball 25-30 times, 26 to be exact.

hey you don't like my option, I don't give a @$#%, what I do see almost every ballgame, is we basically targeting only one or two receivers the two slot receivers, and we throw them short to medium safe passes, and occasionally we will send them over the top. Mean while our outside receivers Meadows in particular, only get one or two catchable passes thrown their way, they are basically used as blockers, and decoys, and you can see the frustration building, Meadows catches one pass and you see not emotion, just quietly walks back to the huddle, same with McGuire, they almost see bored because it become obvious their not going to get a lot of catchable balls thrown their way, I admit Im nickpicking we still have the top offense in the SBC, but sooner or later, someone is going take away the running game, and those slot receivers and we are going to have to win a game throwing to those outside receivers, not sure we can win doing that.

Both teams should be fired up on Thursday night. Winner has great chance to go undefeated and be outright conference champ. Although, I think App has the more difficult games after Thursday and no team in the SBC can be overlooked.

This game, (like most) will come down to mistakes and turnovers. Figure App will open up -5 or so.

Line will be closer to two touchdowns than -5.

Actually, I believe it is 3 home games in exactly 2 weeks. I am also expecting a small crowd. Will be pleasantly surprised if we hit 20k.

I am guessing 8-10. Vegas was way off with the App/Troy game, so it's possible we may see the line adjusted in our favor a little.

Big game that's difficult to pick. stAte always finds a way to be in the conference champ discussion, but I like App in a close one 24-17

Interesting game.

Saw the line, and decided to take a look back at the talent on AppSt's roster but they do not have any talent, any where.

I normally defer to those that put real mney on the table, but IMO if A-State is not in the self destruct mode, especially their qb, they should win this game easily, much less cover the spread.
