RE: Seven decades of competition Astate vs Louisiana thread
It is definitely my favorite game on the conference schedule and the only real rivalry we have right now. App St could develop into one, and I miss playing Troy but they are a shell of the former teams they had.
I'm curious to see what the line will be because I have no idea what to expect this Tuesday out of either squad.

Just looked at Live Lines but nothing posted yet. I'd say stAte will be about a 10-14 point favorite.

Quit sandbagging, I think it will be a pickem type of line.

In your teams case is it not more a case of what to expect from your qb?
I know the other units are a little undisciplined at times , but they are talented enough, and play hard enough, to overcome their miscues.
They can't overcome qb's that play like they bet on the other team.

I wasn't sandbagging. You guys have played better ball than we and the game will be played at your place. I'll stand by what I said.
If I'm wrong you'll win............well,...........absolutely nothing.

Still would like to see this game have a trophy of some kind (I think playing for some type of trophy that comemorates our shared history would be very cool and remind future players how storied this series is). Maybe call it "Battle on the Plains" since both cities are located along geographic plains (Jonesboro sits along the alluvial plains of the Mississippi Embayment and Lafayette lies along the West Gulf Coastal Plains)
Just some ideas ?

While I wish that were true, since stAte is devoid of a rival since the Memphis series ended, ULM is your rival. That's pretty clear. You guys hate each other.
I've never met an stAte fan that hated ULL, or even disliked them. We're more similar than not.
I think you are thinking that a rivalry only exists with hate. We have a healthy respect for the Cajuns...always has. It is a rivalry primarily because the players don't like each other, and neither team really has a huge rivalry game otherwise. It's sort of been born out of necessity.
You don't have to hate a team to be their rival.
That's true, though I'd argue an amount of hatred is needed for a rivalry. I see it more as an especially tough, important game than a rivalry.

any memorable games for both cajuns and red wolves fans?
I'm pretty sure I'm still suffering heart murmurs from that '11 match up...

That's much better.
If they get anywhere close to all-sbc caliber play from their SUPPOSEDLY all-sbc qb ( I'm not holding my breath), they win by 20+.
If they get the same caliber of play from him they have thus far................,.......they probably cover the line.
If they have to go with their backup for much of the game.......heaven help them, because he is the worse qb in all of FBS, and the #1 reason they should be concerned big-time about the judgement of their OC, and HC.

Have you even watched him play? He had multiple caroms off of players for interceptions which were just out and out bad luck. The Toledo game plan was for Tabary to chunk it deep and pray.....destined to fail.
Do we want the freshman leading the offense? No. Is he "the worst qb in all of FBS"? No.

Not the point. He said he was the worst QB in all of FBS and acted as if he is incompetent when anyone who has actually watched him can see that he isn't.

The problem is Tabary faced USC, Mizzou, and Toledo. Those are some pretty tough defenses.
He looked fairly good against Missouri State, for a first time starter.
