I get your sarcasm, but I do think that the criticisms regarding our overall crappy schedule is warranted up to this point. Roll on ULM and then we can talk about how legit we are.
Agreed. ULM isn't going to win but y'all have had an easy schedule to this point. App St is pretty good this year but how good is yet to be known yet. I'm guessing very good.
Did it look easy at the beginning of the season? Or did it look like we had some good games lined up? We can't help how other teams perform except in the day we play them.

Bingo, according to stink fans until we beat the mighty stink we ain't beat nobody. Guess we need to beat the crap out of them. I expect that to happen on the 22nd.

When that happens, they'll just say they really suck this year. You can't win with that group. Except on the scoreboard.

Looking at the stats it will be interesting to see how App's defense plays against a more balanced offense with a better offensive line.
Also based upon the stats App's 3rd down efficiency isn't very good and this is the best defense we've faced outside of Clemson.
Be prepared for a lot of penalties in this game as App is 86th and ULM is 126th in the nation, yikes.
I think you'll see this line come down as we edge closer to the game, opened at App -11.5, no over/under yet. I'd set the over/under at 42.
In defense of ULM regarding penalties, the crew that did the Ga Southern/ULM game probably inflated those numbers.

Part of me hopes App routs ULM because if App loses or wins by 2 TDs or less GSU Eagles is going into overdrive for the next 4 days.

Something your defense seems to do well that ours doesn't is play consistent throughout a game. When you guys get a good lead you continue play tough defense. When we start gaining momentum on offense our defense falls asleep.
I think App wins this game somewhere to the tune of 35-14 or 35-10. The ULM offense hasn't improved that much, they still have no rushing attack.

Your offense is based on rhythm. As few setbacks seem to send your coaches scrambling to find which side of the field to run a post, streak, comeback, or slant route from. I think that the offense drives the intensity for Southern whereas App's defense feeds the team. Based on what i've seen, there aren't many impact plays being made by Southerns defense, which leaves Ellison, Breida, and the battering Ramsby needing to run over a few people to get some energy flowing again.

ULM shoots themselves in the foot too often and that plays right into the defenses hands. Unless they somehow pull it all together this week I don't see any way they score more than 14 points.

We can't sleep on ULM. We were fortunate to beat them in Boone last year. While this game looks like a win on the surface, it is making me nervous...

ULM runs the 3-3-5 very well. They usually drop the 5 to the sticks and then swarm to crowd the box. Weather is looking really nice for Monroe on Saturday so I expect the passing game to open up.

RE: App @ ULM
I'll be honest, I'm not too worried about this game. Focus has not been an issue and even if our offense can only muster up 14 points, I still think we win. Here is an interesting stat. Outside of the Clemson game, our defense has outscored our opponents offense 21-13. I don't see ULM scoring more than 13 or 14 points and although they have a good defense, I think our defense will put us in position for more scoring opportunities. My prediction, good guys 26, bad guys 13.

RE: App @ ULM
This will be Lamb and Co's second test of the season, a test which they assuredly failed at Clemson. I think we'll have an easy enough time stopping their offense which appears lackluster at this point in the season. I think it will go one of two ways for the offense: (1) ULM holds the App offense in check for a while, but eventually wears down and gives up points after half time and App gets the close-ish W or (2) Lamb and Co play lights out against one of the better defenses in the Belt, drive down the field from the beginning, and the game gets ugly.
There's already been plenty of posts about the fact this this is a trap game before we play our arch rival in a short week, so I won't continue to go there. Suffice it to say: we have to stay focused.

RE: App @ ULM
ULM problems this year is the offense not able to stay on the field long enough to give their defense a rest. They lost their best receiver for the year, and playing a redshirt freshman at qb who is still learning the position, you can make a case that the two best defenses in the SBC will be on the field for this game. I think if they can atleast move the ball, pick up first downs, and eat up some of the clock, on almost every possession then their defense is good enough to atleast keep them in the game. On Apps side we need to be patient on offense, we probably are going to punt more in this game, than any other game we played this year, except for Clemson. This is probably going to be an ugly game, a lot of punting on both sides, forget about "style points", and lets get out of there with the win and move on to GS.

I know you are a fan of another team so I wouldn't expect you to be intimately familiar with ours, but the bolded statement is just untrue. We are close to tops in the nation in interceptions, have multiple blocked kicks, and make lots of big hits and minus plays on the other teams run game, even our DB's have been known to lay the wood when they aren't getting beat deep (I think Idaho's criminal WR just scored on us again ). Your early statement is correct that our offense can look bad when they get off rhythm, but saying our D isn't making impact plays is just false.

I think the reason why App's defense plays hard no matter the score, or how much time is left in the game is Nate Woody will not allow the players to let up, or lose focus until the game ends. Story is last year, App was up 3 tds in the forth, game was pretty much over, anyway Woody noticed two of his starters sitting on the bench, joking around, not paying attention to the game, Nate went over to them and basically read them the riot act, about remaining focused for the entire game. They seem to have really bought into this way of thinking.
