No reason why App can't watch southern tape this week.

Fun for you...more work for me. Mod staff will be setting betting lines for the number of goat related images, and references to dirty ditch water posted during that time period. We'll use the proceeds to fund our next staff retreat.

Heck, you could probably solve world hunger while you're at it if we're basing it on those references.

While that makes sense on a message board, I doubt Coach Fritz wants to encourage that kind of 'look ahead' mentality. He's always been a one week at a time kind of coach and while some of the assistants might be watching App State film, I doubt they are showing it to the team.

Well your defense is easy to figure out. Just run it down their throats. Wyoming has nothing like the rushing attack we do.

As for your offense, well that will be interesting.

RE: SBC Week 6 Picks
it will not be as easy to run as you think, Wyoming ran a Pro I with two TEs used to block, a huge OL, and, no offense to Brenda, Hill is the best back we will face all year, have not see a back that combination of power and speed in a long time, that kid is going to play on Sundays. It also was the first game all season long, where we were not fundamentally sound with our tackling, and playing with discipline, the staff will fix that this week, and hopefully you will not see that again this year.

I hope you believe that. THREE yards per carry.

Clemson vs. App State
44 rushing attempts. 140 yards. 3.2 yards per carry.

I'm sure you're correct, but I don't think they'll get much useful info from the Wyoming game. I doubt that the team they face will have much in common with this past Saturday's team. I do think that the App/GS game will be a GREAT game this year. I will be there yelling for the Apps!

Foolish. Don't get me wrong, our run defense was horrible last week, but that was definitely an anomaly to the rest of our year. We held Howard (yeah, I know) to 2.1 ypc, Clemson to 3.2 ypc, and ODU to 2.0 ypc.

We're 17th in the country in rush defense, I don't know what else to tell you.

Easy, we'll just put 10 in the box and let Gibbs cover the wing blockers.

I think our run defense is somewhere in between the ODU and Wyoming games. ODU's offensive line was terrible (big but slow), and our guys over pursued and missed a ton of tackles vs. WYO. They will get better over the next three weeks and hopefully we finally get some good weather.

Somebody please get Yosef a can of Lysol to spray on that nasty ditch water when they pour it onto our illustrious championship turf.

So we need to just let them by and go get the LB's? :)

RE: SBC Week 6 Picks
I see the App/GA St. game going one of two ways.

GA St. is licking its wounds after the Liberty loss and has probably looked forward to the App game since last year as that game was their worst performance of 2014.

Before last week App has been a slow starting team that gains momentum as the game progresses for the last 12 games. If that occurs and GA St. completes a couple of long passes (which I'm certain they will at some point) they will be able to keep the game close, App still wins but GA St. covers. I think they pass for 275+ against us keeping it closer than most would predict.

On the other hand I can see App's defense creating a couple early turnovers or big sacks and we jump on them early.

Either way we should be able to run the ball on their defense and score enough to win. Just stay even or better in turnovers guys.

The only thing they can do consistently is throw the long ball. Keep some safety coverage back there, because their rush attack is weak. You shouldn't have to bring them up in run support as much. Force them to throw underneath a lot, Arbuckle has a tendency to make bad throws (check out his number of INT's). Also, their OL is not good either, so you should be able to get pressure up front and cause more mistakes as well.

I hate that we isolated our secondary against them last year like we did. They do have some speedy guys at WR. I would liked to have seen us mix up zone coverage (we like dropping linemen into coverage as well to cause confusion, see Jay Ellison INT (LOL) against Idaho) and force Arbuckle to have to check through his reads instead of hitting the hot route. Hopefully we do that more this year, and I think that's pretty much what ya'll did last year when they were just obliterated. That and the fact they hated snow.

RE: SBC Week 6 Picks
that's a great point about mixing up the coverage, and making Arbuckle check thru his reads, the guy is just too good to play one coverage or two coverages for the entire game, if he gets comfortable in the pocket, and gains confidence in where he wants to throw the ball, he is going to light your defense up for big yds. You have to be willing to take some chances, if you guess wrong a couple of times and he hits the big play, that's just something you have to be willing to accept. I would rather that happen then Arbuckle sitting in the pocket, and just picking us apart with short to medium passes. As far as the game, going by what SS thought about how they played against Wyoming, got to think this was going to be a tough week of practice, maybe the team got alittle bit too cocky after the ODU game, and they are going to make it rough on them this week to try and reign them back in. I think they will be more focused for this game, and will not take GS lightly. Arbuckle is going to get his yds, if we can hold him under 250 and a couple of scores, that would be a good day. Thankfully, I don't see them stopping our running game, and if they load the box, we have enough good receivers to make them pay.
