Pathetic. Toledo drew 18,000+ and we didn't even play. You guys need to step up!

FYI, Miami's numbers are inflated by about 6K. We should get north of 20K announced when we host UC in two weeks for homecoming (assuming decent weather), but the bottom line is that Miami won't draw well until we win again. Current Miami seniors have seen only six wins in their three years, you really can't grow a fanbase in that kind of environment.

To be fair, there was an issue with NIU season tickets not scanning and being included in the final tally. We probably had somewhere between 18-19k.

You always have some EXCUSE for your crappy attendance. It was your home/season opener against a known FBS/MWC team.

It's what happened, doesn't change facts. You could've turned the game on and realized it was more than 15k

Coming off of a disappointing season, it certainly doesn't help to play a small school (1,500 students) from a lower level located three states away.

I'm not sure why we play the likes of VMI and Colgate when there are so many more local options nearby.

Of course that's what happened. NIU always has some excuse for their attendance.

Just face it man, your attendance is pathetic for as much as you guys have been winning the last few years. Also, no one would really care if you weren't always out running your mouth about how NIU was a contender for a spot in the Big 12. Or if you would stop trying to claim the Chicago market. Start actually drawing the DeKalb market first.

At least 15,000 fans is an improvement from your average of 13k last year.

There's like two people that claim we're a contender for the Big 12. Settle down.

Has EMU changed the modus operendi on reporting attendance, seems awfully low, they usually average around 16-19K... 03-lmfao

The more annoying part is the belief that if they were in the American their attendance would suddenly be 25-30k

Why does that annoy you?

1 - because it's not true, it's excuse making. when you make excuses you won't get better.

Toledo and Ohio have proven that you don't need to play UConn or ECU every other year to get asses in the seats. NIU is winning more than either program so look at your own AD for the problem.

Buffalo is not winning big but our attendance is up about 20-33% since the new Athletic Director came in. We just opened a West Club which requires a 1.2K per season donation and it's sold out (about 500K more in revenue).

2 - because its shaqing on the rest of the conference.

I think Buffalo would do better attendance wise in the AAC but not because folks would rather see Temple than EMU per se. I'm not going to blame Ohio or Akron for Buffalo's attendance problems (despite the improvement we still have problems).

We would do better because our Alumni outside of Buffalo are mainly in the Boston to DC corridor and because Temple, UConn, Cinci, Navy are closer to UB than some of the schools in the MAC West.

Navy and Cinci are as far from Buffalo as Miami. And unlike EMU/CMU/WMU you don't need to cross an international border (twice) to get there.

NIU is the opposite situation.

I'm pretty sure the AD is doing all he can to improve the situation. This is his third season, first season were sellout games because of BCS run and Heisman race. Second season = worse attendance in 15 years. NIU is only one game into this season. Still should be no reason why our attendance issues should bother you as a UB fan at all. Did NIU fans sh!t on your attendance in the early 2000s or something? You can't tell me as a MAC member, averages would be higher all around if there were no weekday games ?

No, but when you guys try to act as if your attendance would double in the AAC, it is a back handed slap to the rest of your conference mates.

I don't think its your attendance that bothers anyone. If that were the case then I'm sure EMU would have already been kicked from the conference. What's annoying are the excuses. Whats annoying to your conference mates is the comments that insinuate they are part of your attendance problems. Obviously moving to the MWC wouldn't help your attendance, that was proven by your week 1 attendance.

Who has said it would double in the AAC? The only feasable significant improvement is a movement to the Big12, and THAT IS NOT happening. Fact, getting rid of weekday games, improves attendance. You can take them as excuses, but at the end of the end of the day our attendance issues are our own to deal with, and have no effect of UB's, Ohio, Toledo, etc. etc. attendance. What if NIU simply fudged their numbers like EMU and reported 20K every game, would that make it better? Successful MAC teams, Marshall included, don't get the respect they deserve despite their accomplishment because of the conference perception that they play in. It's not a surprise how NIU fans feel frustrated and would like to see a change.
