Oh yeah, that is nice. Fans will be able to choose between going to a football game, going for a swim or both. Think about it, if all of the SBC schools had that, then the league could change the name to the Sunny Beach Conference. Too bad all colleges don't have a campus football stadium. Woe is us.

Not sure what you're getting at here, but our stadium is indeed on campus. Our campus itself is 20 minutes from the beach.

But to your point, yes, having other activities in the area to compete with makes it more difficult to get butts in the seat. I get it.

But with absolutely zero visiting fans coming to our home games and us still getting crowds of circa 10k, I don't think hitting 15k fans in the sun belt will be too hard if App State and GaSo are really bringing 5k or more people like they indicate they will.

We will do our best. Something tells me you'll still end up coming and making a fun vacation out of it. We would love to have you.

You guys have an on campus stadium. USA, however, does not, which is what he was getting at.

And Georgia Southern will definitely bring at least 5k. We should as well, but I think GS is a guarantee, what with it being the Redneck Riviera and all.

It'll be hard to tell the GaSo guests from the locals. Mullets and FUPA's all around.

Except most Myrtle Beach "locals" sound like they're straight out of The Sopranos. 05-mafia

I'm not sure anybody was actually ever born here.

Redneck Riviera starts in Florida along the panhandle.

At least that's how I've always been told.

Oh yea, something something goats something.

RE: CCU stadium plans
speaking in regards with the cordial attitude towards CCU fans, I know from all of my friends, we are happy about CCU joining the conference. They have built a pretty good program over there, and are growing, and they obviously have the commitment to get better and bigger.

Southern and CCU had a good series going between them for a few years. I'm glad to have them back on the schedule. I've also never had any bad run ins with CCU fans. Even the drunk ones in the waffle house I came across were fun to trash talk with.

04-cheers welcome!

I cant wait to see the plans and hopefully construction starts at latest end of the season. We will soon see if CCU is in over their heads with what they put out. First big welcome to the FBS financial reality check coming up how big and nice can you go? The quality of the product and how they fund it will say a lot.

I try to avoid naming names 03-wink, last year Georgia Southern fans had me pegged as a troll so I leave crazy to speculation, past fanatico and floridajag but that's because they seem to take pride in crazy

Based on their other facilities and the quality of the current stadium, I imagine their expansion plans will be first class.

We're assuming so on this end. The one thing we don't do is half-ass our architecture. The baseball stadium is simply a thing of beauty and isn't even completed yet. They are just now on the final stage of installing the boardwalk around the outfield wall. We have a brand new "TD Sports Complex" entrance as well that is looking more and more impressive by the day.

I look forward to whenever some of you can make your way to our campus. I think you'd be awfully impressed walking the grounds.

Just don't build your stadium inside an aircraft hanger with a max 15,000 seats. If you do we will move you to Moscow and demand you leave our conference.

It will probably be us if Bodoyle comes in here and starts talking crap about Adrian Peterson.

RE: CCU stadium plans
My plan would be four Montana style corner sections .
Build a big upper deck or if more economical replace the visitors side .
Move the video board to the top of the Adkins center.
Build some endzone seating steep and high like the Seahawks (not as big) .

The visitors side seating expansion would be determined by how many seats the other sections have.
Down the road add another bigger video board above the new end zone seats.

Corner section and end zone seating is good if high and close to the field.

CCU coming on board is like 'mom' giving you another sibling. You don't want them at first, but once they're here, they're family. Arguments will come once the newness wears off, and they become irritating.

You're not going to see anything like that to the best of our knowledge. We know the Adkins side will be bowled in and the Hwy 544 side will be a replica of the entrance side. I don't think you'll ever see the scoreboard moved (and it wouldn't make sense to since it blocks the view of University Blvd). The question currently being asked is whether the University Blvd. side will be bowled in and how that would work. We've heard that it may be, but I just don't see that happening at this time.

We have to be somewhat careful with this. While we want to build out for this first stage of the FBS, we don't want to build it out to such an extent that it makes it prohibitive to consider a future stadium that may be larger (if [hopefully] needed).

It might be a bit early to start talking about this but is there any chance the city of Myrtle Beach fronting some of the bill on expanding your stadium in hopes to organize a bowl game? Would be a great destination for one. And lots of FBS schools in the Carolinas, GA and VA to play in a bowl in Myrtle Beach/Conway.

I suspect that the tourism group(s) would love to have a bowl in the area at that time of year to fill empty rooms and book tee times. With the MoH bowl happening in Charleston I don't know if the region would / could support 2 bowls. I would like to think it could but not sure, then you add in the politics of it all and I just don't know.

What we do know is that VisitMyrtleBeach.com has sponsored the Big South basketball tournament and other advertising with the Big South. So I can see that they would want to carry that over to the Sun Belt with conference related events and could infer they may have interest in a bowl.

The City of MB collects an additional penny for tourism related initiatives so they have some money to spend. This is in addition to the penny that the county collects for education related capital expenses that Coastal gets about 13%.

I heard from someone today that they are considering putting about 5,000 seats in the section where the scoreboard is as the new student section if the entrance to University Boulevard could be moved. They also said if that happened they would probably put the score board on top of Adkins Fieldhouse. This person didn't say if this is planned right away or down the line a few years after the rest of the stadium is already bowled in and the visitor side mirrors the home side. They also said at this point nothing is set in stone yet and they have a few different ideas heading forward but that is apparently one of the ideas.
