I completely agree.
The stadium size need to be effectively reduced and those stands needed life.

The capacity of Rynearson has been a mystery to me.
Not the number - 30,500 - but do the two sides have equal numbers of seats?
Believe I was told that the west side stands have more seats.
Regardless, the banners effectively reduce the east side capacity by 2/3s.
So IF there were 15K seats there, it is now 5K.
If it was 12K, it is now approximately 4K.
As not many folks sit there, say 500 - 1,000 visiting fans (tops), they will probably sit just below the concourse level say mostly between the 30 yard lines. Not have many rows of steps to go up or down.

Right. Those who sit on that side will be more concentrated which is a really good thing. It is going to look much better on TV. No one on the visitor side is going to be "disappointed." It was a creative way to handle the problem that we have all talked about here.
I would say the next project should be to color the track Kelly green. If they do that, Rynearson will look pretty darn spiffy. I look forward to checking it out in person next weekend.
Folks in computer graphics can test out kelly green, gray, etc. etc. and compare to the existing red.
Who knows maybe green with gray lane markings would be neat. Or maybe green with white lane markings?
The important thing is with computer graphics we should be able to avoid something hideous.
What I don't know (or understand) what they are doing with the lower concrete stands (where it meets field level) on the east side. The graphics from the last few years are either covered or painted over (I can't tell). I'm not sure what the plan there is...

Those graphics were just banners so probably just were taken down. My guess would be new banners will be posted but don't know for sure.

BTW, I agree that kelly green would look good.
It would contrast with the darker green surrounding the gray playing field.
I wouldn't think that it would be very expensive or time consuming painting the track and getting it all marked up. I hope they do it. I think Wayne State looks pretty sharp--I will be there Friday for the Tim Horton's High School Kickoff Classic.

I was Tweeting with someone from EMU FB graphics. He thinks gray would be best.
I'd like to see mock up of both the kelly green and also a gray track. ANYTHING BUT RED!! Red draws attention to the track. Not good.

That would be too much gray. I hope he reconsiders. They need to balance out the colors and the fact of the matter is, EMU's colors are green and white. Gray would be a bad choice.

I assume it might have something to do with renaming the track in honor of Bob Parks. New banners? (I'd assume so) Or something more permanent.
