We'll just hear the "we lost Austin in July. Pastner was left in a lurch. Just wait til next year when the Lawson's and Marshall have more experience..."

Rinse, repeat.

Whoever beats that drum has their head deeply buried in the sand and or knows nothing about basketball and lastly cares more about Josh than they do about Tiger hoops.

RE: Hoops: ESPN Way Too Early T25 + bracketology
We have our second senior point guard this season. We have supposedly good recruits at the 3, 4, and 5. Then, we have all the returning players who started last year. K-E-D-R-E-N started for us, as did Markel, Woodson, Burrell, and Shaq, and every one of them showed promise in one way or another. Lots of P5 coaches would envy that lineup.

Speaking of players from last year's team who may be starting this year, we probably have more of those than any other team in college basketball. They just won't all be starting here.

Is it we can't afford it or THEY don't want to pay it? I guess it really doesn't matter does it.

Are you sure $7.95M puts it within reach? I'm not.

In 2017 if things are bad enough, I think they'll gladly negotiate a 5 or 6 million buyout, which Pastner would probably take to avoid litigation. After this year, I don't think you could pay him off for any less than 8 million and at any rate there just won't be a lot momentum to fire him unless things are way worse than they are actually likely to get since there's already a built in excuse for this year. Win 20 or 21 games, make the NIT, and I'd guess his job will probably be safe.

That's good stuff....losing Austin will cost the Tigers at least a Sweet 16....if they somehow still make it that far with that small lineup, the coach deserves a raise.....

Austin pretty much lived up to expectations as a ready-to-contribute freshman. Blue chippers are supposed to, though it doesn't always happen.

Now we're looking for significant minutes from at least two, maybe three freshmen in the paint. It might work, might not.

I expect everything and nothing.

Well, ok. Although to me it seems like the football coach would be the one to deserve a raise not a coach that had zero to do with the success of the football program.

No, he won't deserve it. He's been paid in advance for any such results over the next 2 seasons.

If they make the S16 or better he's simply catching up a this point.

I would be thrilled at making the Sweet 16 this year and especially if we do it 2 years in a row, but that's the deal here with a few of the weird posters we have here.

They hate Pastner so much that their focus would be on hating him, his salary and being bitter instead of enjoying the results.

Well we will have to agree to disagree. I don't believe there are posters here that hate Josh personally as a person. My thoughts as I have been reading this board for at least six years, is that several posters/fans that I know personally that attend games love the Tigers and like Josh as a person but dont like Josh as a head coach, especially our coach.
Those fans would love for him to succeed because they love the program and like him. If fans and posters say/claim they don't hate Josh...I think they should be believed because there's no way to know for sure that someone hates Josh simply by reading a posters comments on this board. I tend to think tiger fans have the ability to separate their feelings about Josh... Which is they don't think he's a good coach and don't think he's the right guy for the job here but hope the Tigers win.
