Just playing devil's advocate here...

3-star goes to Bama,

- redshirt as a true FR
- Start on special teams as a RS FR
- 3rd string/special teams as a RS SO
- 2nd string as a RS JR
- 2nd string as a 5th year senior, but see the field a decent amount.

He wins 2 national championships and 2 SEC titles.

or

Goes to Memphis,

Starts as a true FR
Win the AAC and play in a Miami Beach type bowl.

Justin Fuente leaves after another successful season...

Goes 7-5 the next season - Birmingham Bowl
Miss a Bowl
Miss a Bowl

Started all 4 years.

Obviously, that's just one scanrio...but that's the other side of your argument. Tough decision, IMO. Especially with a brother on the team and being from AL.
You left out a line. Right after this line

"Justin Fuente leaves after another successful season..."
Goes this line

"Memphis goes back to the head hunting firm that found Fuente, Eastman and Beaudine in Plano, TX and they recommend another top coach and the tradition continues."

I'll be very surprised if Barry Odom isn't our next coach.

I would too. With what he did with our defense and with him having head coaching experience in high school and also being known as a good recruiter. It's a no brainer.

Barry will be a head coach and maybe ours one day but because of being a HS coach. But maybe you were throwing in some funny there

I'm not giving up on JF sticking around.

Muschamp is a wild card. He is gonna have the new coach play now pitch for a year or two

I hope we can pull it out. Bama may not be a lock

Saban is afraid of Memphis having recruiting camps in Alabama. Now, I see why.

Interesting comments stating that he would not mind starting low on the pole and not play his freshmen yr. If he doesn't want to play or be in the rotation his freshman year that rules the Tigers out!

Stay tuned!

So, tomorrow, July 28, is the date for him to commit. That's what I read.

No crystal ball here, but common sense says "It's an honor just to be nominated." LOL! He never even visited Memphis so it really says something about the staff to be listed in his final cut. Living in AL, it's ROLL EAGLE all day every day. I am impressed with the inroads Memphis has made in a short period of time. UAB's situation probably helps the Tigers as well. Current in state FBS options are either SEC/SBC...nothing in between.

Agree 100% it's an honor. If the kid hasn't made an official or unofficial visit to Memphis, I don't believe he's really serious in coming. But nice to be included. I would be shocked if he didn't sign with AL!!

They've pretty much abandoned the state of Alabama in recruiting aside from the 5 stars and high ranked 4 stars. Not sure about Auburn, but I wouldn't be surprised if this kid was far down on their board as well. I like our chances here.

I'd bet he does have a committable offer, given the family ties

I didn't know he was part of a package deal. He still may not have a spot in their class, regardless. I'd be surprised if he was a take for them at this point.

Do you see? Do you see the problem posting at the top instead of the bottom of a quote causes? PLEASE stop doing it.

Please.
