This is what you'd said. This is a much more active statement than "not caring" if they aren't on the schedule. I also don't care if they aren't on the schedule but I also would not feel as strong as you initially indicated. What you originally said is much more foolish than what you tried to backtrack and say you meant.

You also attacked other posters for no reason for disagreeing with your initial statement, which was off base..

I haven't attacked anyone. What blazer9911 said about Mike Davis being scared to play Memphis was silly. If you don't feel as strongly as I do, fine by me. But I don't think you are foolish because you don't feel as strongly as I do. It's your choice and I respect that. So be kind enough to respect my view of it and if you disagree with it, be polite in your disagreement. The attacks started with you and blazer9911 calling my comments foolish.

I didn't say he was scared to play Memphis, I said he was scared of Memphis. His multiple choke jobs in that series back up my claim.

I call for a weekend truce between BamaScorpio69 and blazer9911 for a cooling off period. It seems every time I come here, someone is fighting, Blazers vs. Blazers. Like they say, You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts.
The difficult part in having a civil conversation here is we don't have football to cool us off until Basketball season starts, those dang, BOT, UAB hating son of a ....Never mind, proceed with the fighting....whew...

Anywho, I think a game with Stephen F. Austin isn't going to register with the average fan in Birmingham if in fact it is a home and home series. Good team for sure but didn't they lose their HC to a P5 school?

Coach Underwood is still at SFA.
A couple more "rumors" of people who UAB have talked to a game series are Wofford and Valpo.

Apparently getting SFA is priority one, and the least likely is Valpo.

Probably not, but it should help with the selection committee. I think more fans will show up this year because we are in a much better place than we were last season.

It does, and the fact that he had bizarre outbursts and choke jobs at Indiana in high pressure situations back up his assertions even further.

Remember that Memphis road game during the Mike Davis era that coincided with the death of Whitney Houston? 107.7 turned the game off and played nonstop Whitney Houston music instead. I think we lost by 40.

I can't speak to Davis' emotional fortitude, but his teams lost to Memphis in spectacular fashion. That game in particular blew my mind.

Way to exaggerate. It was 34 points, and not our worst loss to Memphis under Davis. They also didn't play nonstop Whitney Music. That would have had a little entertainment value. They took calls from callers to talk about how broken up they were over her death.

2/11/2012. Closest I've ever come to firebombing a radio station.

You are correct. My mistake. They did take calls and the on-air talent talked about her a lot too.

I turned it off and found it on TV. I couldn't decide if watching it on TV was worse than not listening to it on the radio.

It probably wasn't our worst loss to Memphis under Davis - I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of basketball history like you do - but I vividly remember the feeling of abject despair and embarrassment during that game. That's the worst basketball loss I've watched or listened to.

Well there you have it. Mike Davis was scared of Memphis. Well done. Are you blazer9911 defender or something? Geez dude....

Would rather listen to Whitney Houston tributes than a basketball game involving a team coached by Davis.

I know how some of you feel about 107.7 FM but it is a black radio station and Whitney was a gigantic star both internationally and in the black community. Of course the radio station was going to talk calls about Whitney to remember her career and grieve over her untimely loss of life.

My question is why is UAB Sports regulated to 107.7 in the first place?

I don't buy that at all. First, I don't see how any singer deserves that kind of treatment. No one calling in knew her, yet everyone was personalizing it. But I know that is how the public is. Every celebrity overdose somehow personally affects everyone. America worships it's celebrities, so it's a national tragedy when one overdoses.

Second, They have a contract, and I'm sure if it was a football game or another state team involved, they would have found another time to do their dog and pony show. If it had been the first time they had disrespected UAB, they would get a pass, but that was only one in a series of slights and screw ups, like cutting off the coaches show, going to commercial and not returning for a long period of time...they have gotten better. Maybe her

UAB needed an FM station to carry its sports broadcasts beyond the city limits, particularly during the early darkness days of winter. All Alabama AM stations must "power down" at nightfall (none are "clear channel" AM stations like the ones in Nashville and NOLA) and Bama and Auburn had already signed up the top local FM stations. The "pickings" for powerful leftover local FM stations were slim.
