I'm sure they're just BEGGING the worse huskies to join. What with your amazing football and how close you are to all the other B12 teams. Go languish in your own corner kiddo, keep begging the ACC or run back to the BE as basketball only. FOOTBALL drives schools, not women's basketball

Or should i wait for a UCF fan to roast you? What with your "historic rivalry" bahahaha. Drop the "holier than thou" attitude with your school, your G5 just like us with a MUCH less desirable market and a joke of a football program.

Oh hey, another school that will be stuck just like the rest of us! UCONN is not going anywhere either.

RE: Northern Illinois to the B12 Article
This is the Husky pecking order (based on success in the last 20 years):

UConn > Washington > NIU > Northeastern

UConn is the only one of those schools that has won multiple national championships in a major sport.

Also, it isn't like UConn hasn't been to a major bowl game. We know how to lose one as well as NIU does.

In regards to your BCS Bowl, you were 8-4 and were placed there by default due to terrible Big East football. You also sold less than 3k in tickets!

"Despite receiving more than $2.5 million of the $17 million payout given to the Big East for Connecticut's participation, the Connecticut athletic department estimated it lost $1.8 million by playing in the Fiesta Bowl. Connecticut, which was required to purchase 17,500 tickets to the game, resold only 2,771 of those tickets, resulting in a $2.9 million loss."

Bahahaha!!! Compare that to our Orange Bowl numbers and rearrange your pecking order accordingly. You're definitely below us UCONN guy. Nobody cares about Women's basketball when compared to football, and you're only kidding yourself thinking otherwise. You're NOT in a P5 conference anymore, time to get over it and come back down to earth.

The reason is that UConn fans didn't buy tickets through the school. That year, people who bought tickets for the championship game also had to buy Fiesta Bowl tickets, so they resold the seats on the secondary market for a deep discount. Those seats were better than the ones through the school. There were at least 12K to 15K UConn fans on hand. I know - I was there. Were you? Didn't think so.

Um, there is this sport called men's basketball. In case you have been living under a rock, I offer you proof UConn is the sixth most decorated program of all time...

Not sure where even to start, I'll just say there is no comparison between NIU and UCONN, as far as anything really. UCONN is a national brand, NIU is not even a Chicago brand. Ridiculous statement dude.

Only to the AAC biased people i see flooding these boards. UCONN is not as highly viewed around the league as you all former BE think. However, NIU has a rep for being the BCS busters. From the MAC no less. A MUCH more difficult springboard than the remnants of the BE...

Um, no. Everyone in the country knows that UConn is a hoop powerhouse. So, UConn football is in a rebuild period now. Big deal. As for the old Big East brand, the UConn name helped to build the Big East in all sports. So, if that conference gave UConn any advantage, it is an advantage that was earned.

Look, I respect NIU. However, let's not pretend that NIU's entire athletic department is on the same level as UConn's. It is not. As for football, in our worst year ever this past year, we averaged 28K fans with that lousy team. NIU only gets 18K when they are having their best season ever.

That's all we ask for. And when we get pushed aside, we stand up and make our claim. That's the mindset NIU is trying to instill and honestly I'm all for it. Gotta be tough to get by in the NCAA where everyone stands on each other's shoulders to grab at the same pile of money.

That's the wrong mentality. The idea is to create your own pile of money. Then you get attractive to those with bigger stashes.

I will root for NIU against the "Power" 5 anytime. Eff the cartel (well, unless either of our schools get to join them, of course!)

Totally different, but I follow with interest mostly because some moves could affect ND. I am also rooting for some schools to get "called up" .
