About 50-60 people here. SF talking now. I had a chance to talk to him before the main presentation. Lots of interesting tid bits. Will post full report when I get home.

RE: * * * O F F I C I A L * * * Chandler's Report * * *
A very nice program with I'm guessing around 60 guests plus all of the coaches, staff, cheerleaders and Victor E.

SF
• Huskies Athletics are enjoying lots of success in both:
o Athletics
o Academics
• Huskie stadium will have several 50 year promotions
• 9 teams in top ½ of the conference
• 137K alums in the Chicago area are our strength
• NIU owns Chicago and we need to activate that
• Need to see the same enthusiasm of the Orange Bowl
• We need to continue our support and bring others to the games

Monty
• Excited for the upcoming season
• Will challenge for a championship

Other coaches
• Seemed like really great people
• Women’s track coach spoke very well
• Men’s tennis was top 10 in the region
• NCAA golf championship at Rich Harvest in 2017

Coach Carey
• Really didn’t say anything we didn’t know.
• Appreciates our support

Q&A
• Facilities are still in the silent phase
• Good support across many sports
• Announcement of the next project should come at the end of the summer
• Making sure that the next project invested in is the right project

Covered almost all of what I was going to say:

Some additional information:

SF - lots of promotions coming this year on the 50 Anniversary
SF - 9 teams were in the top half of the MAC
SF - He and his wife are happy in DeKalb - "they keep coming after me but I have a lot more work to do here and I want to get the work done"
Wrestling coach - 44 years in a row that NIU has a wrestler at nationals
Girls Gymnastics - Expect to compete for MAC title next year
Softball - finished about 500 for first time in a couple of decades
Men's Soccer - has recruits coming in from Conant and then few international players
SF - the master plan was hard work funded by generous donor - now working behind the scenes in the silent phase
SF - Announcement by the end of the summer on the next project - "identify next steps and then go like hell"
Carey - expects Moore and TLL to really step up this year
Carey - Toughest team in the MAC - "All of them"
SF - NIU owns Chicagoland but now we need to activate that ownership
Victor E - will be wearing #50 on his jersey this year for the Stadium

For the Accountancy grads - Harry Wright was in attendance and looked and sounded good. Harry is a big supporter of the Men's BB and has season tickets

NIU does not own Chicagoland. Please do not waste time and money there. Let's own Naperville to Rockford. Three million people there.

Thank you for all the updates gentleman, it's very nice of you guys to sum up the events for those of us who live closer to the border of mexico than to canada. I miss living so close to NIU, and I miss my season tickets, but this board keeps me as close to NIU as possible. (this board and my donations to NIU athletics lol.) Thanks again guys, all of you who reported from the events, I appreciate it.

Correct. It's just puffery. No college team owns Chicagoland. But the closest would be Notre Dame.

Funny you say this. Just the other day I was thinking about how I would see NIU football billboards in and around Chicago, but I have never seen them in Rockford. Putting one up near Perryville and State and maybe one up on the 90/173 shopping corridor, it would be visible to a **** ton of people (and alums) that are less than an hour away from Huskie Stadium.

Have there ever been billboards like this in Naperville? Another great place to put them.

I like that the DeKalb oasis gas station has a Huskie flag up. Other than that I still see almost nothing NIU related anywhere else. We could get parts of Chicagoland - the Western suburbs mostly, and also Rockford. I don't think SF wants to give up on Chicago but it's a tough nut to crack.

We should not ignore other areas of Chicagoland. I live in the far north suburbs and there are a ton of Huskies in my neighborhood. It is about 100 miles from DeKalb but many of us go to games and back on campus to support the University in many different ways. So I strongly disagree with the focus of "rockford to Naperville".

Probably the focus should just be "outside of Chicago" then.
