RE: C-USA joke of TV schedule
What gets me is that ASN games are not shown in NoVA and often not shown in Richmond.
They sometimes list those markets as having the game but talking to people living in the market - it's just not on.
We don't have an outlet that covers most, if not all, of VA and that is a problem.
We actually had a strong TV package with the CAA and the NBC Sports package in addition to the Comcast coverage.
What we have in C-USA has more national exposure but we are missing out in our own state and region from what I have seen.

I assume the EMU game will be on ESPN3.

If not, it will be webcast on EMUeagles.com for, I'd guess $6.95.

No reason not to see the season opener on the gray turf in Ypsilanti.

I live in Naples FL and I was able to watch just about every game last year on one of the local FS channels which took a lot of the sting out of not being in the stands in SB. Hopefully history will be repeated this season.

I don't know if ODU will have gray jerseys this season, but I'm guessing they won't be allowed for that game.

It will not. They don't have the rights for the game and I highly doubt they will sublicense anything from Fox. NC State turned down a Friday night timeslot for national TV and may now not get anything.

We had 4 games on Fox last year (1 FS1, 2 FSN, and 1 FCS) and 4 on ASN. Since Norfolk does not have a FSN affiliate (MASN is a partial, but doesn't usually carry college football) and FCS is hard to come by (no Cox, FIOS premium tier), it doesn't make much sense to put ODU games on those channels. We saw this when COX couldn't get the clearance for Senior Day last year.

CUSA should be persuading FOX to use FS2.

IIRC, only the Mountain West has a jersey/turf color rule. (due to Boise)

Also, MAC games stream free on the conference website. (or used to) Don't need to buy a school specific package.

Sad and inexplicable.
The only explanation I've read/heard was the terrible press facilities we offer but the visual package we provide has to far outweigh that.
A packed and rowdy stadium has to be better TV than playing in a half-empty, dead stadium?

Half empty is generous for a couple of the teams.

That said the amenities for the TV folks are pretty spartan. No separate broadcast booth, no elevators, no bath rooms, no food, etc. etc. etc. From what Harry has said visiting folks, the press, are not that thrilled about good old S.B. Ballard as it exists now. My hunch is when we get the new stadium built you will see folks showing up more often to do games.

Not entirely accurate...
There is a separate TV booth (downstairs from the visitor radio booth), it's actually the biggest booth in Forman, but does feel like it was build in the 30's. There is a bathroom... 1 bathroom, shared by everyone (stat crew, print reporters, radio{though they have to come downstairs...through the stands} tv and support staff, S.I.D's ext...) and it's small. There are no elevators. There is food, and it's not bad, on par with the rest of the conference. Problem is that it's under the south end of the stadium and the booth is on top of the north end.

So not entirely accurate...but yea it stinks. Not as bad as Houston though...Rice is awful, smaller booths with exposed jerry-rigged wireing...but at least the food is close.

I hope ASN takes most of the remaining games otherwise this sets an awful precedent: Have a bowl-eligible season and then get screwed when it comes to next year's tv schedule.

I'm very disappointed.

Perhaps FOX decides to show more ODU games in an additional tv schedule announcement? I don't know.

Looking at the TV schedule for football has me very paranoid about what the conference is going to do with our basketball team. The conference, for whatever reason did not push to have us showcased. Will they show us such little love with bball too? YIKES.

How do you know they didn't push to have us showcased? I'm asking a genuine question. Was there a memo sent out that said "let's not give ODU a bunch of games?"

And, piggybacking on that, what possible reason would the conference have?

The conference makes money the better it's teams do.

RE: C-USA joke of TV schedule
Charlotte, I get to a degree, market size approximately #24, Norfolk #44. Personally I am not impressed with how CUSA parcels out games. Obviously they are going to push the teams they view are top four and will get bowl bids. My daily job deals with television markets, and neither Bowling Green, KY nor Huntington, WV are close in size to Norfolk. But hey, they are supposed to be better teams this year. I guess the number of potential eyes is not a great concern for CUSA. After that it leaves a lot of room for head scratching. Southern Miss 4x!!! Really!! To me this is a bigger insult than Charlotte at 3x. At least Charlotte has a large market to hang their hat on, but Southern Miss.

As for ASN, this is a great deal for ODU because the local Sinclair station is channel 33. If it was a primary affiliate station, our games would be relegated to the stations secondary signal (i.e. Chattanooga, TN or Washington, DC).

I think there was only one game in DC that was on ASN that I didn't get in DC. MASN or MASN2 usually carried them. I think I was able to get it online though so it wasn't a big deal.

Thanks. I was at every game last year and got most of the away games on TV since I was a student and didn't know how it would play out
