If we don't make 2 littke league errors in the 9th on Wednesday it would have been TxST in the losers bracket but you took advantage of those and won. You only needed to split a double header on an extra rest with rested arms and you didn't.

What he said. Outside oF the Cajuns, there's not another team in the Belt I pull for like Tx State. But boy is it tough. You guys Coog more games than any team I've ever seen.

I'll cheer for South today because they beat us... and I want to see Kevin Hill pitch against a really good team.

Should be a good one. Hill threw 112 pitches on Thurs. Leger threw 92 on Wed. Still South Alabama will likely have more options out of the pen with two fewer games played

RE: Baseball tournament thread
Before the game, I want to say this:

Win or lose today, I am very proud of this Cajun squad as it is the youngest team we fielded in a number of years. Last year we had one of the best seasons ever, and combine that with the fact that we had a lot of draftable juniors, made for the fact that we lost almost our entire team (that played.) I personally thought we would struggle mightily, especially given the fact that we ended up starting 3 freshman pitchers. This team has a very bright future and has already exceeded my expectations.

Kudos to all of the conference teams that have made this tournament one of the good ones. It is a shame there was no one there to see it.

Why the heck did South throw Hill on Thursday if they were planning on starting him again Sunday? That's asking for a dangerous arm injury.

I understand 3 days rest in the Championship Game, and I can see 2 days rest coming out of the pen...but start?

I haven't seen any sign Hill will pitch. I would be surprised to see him today.

It was reported by our beat writer who is there and he usually is pretty good about not commenting until he has solid info.

Hill is listed as the starter on the submitted rosters

Hill has already pitched against a "really good team." Against the Cajuns he pitched a complete game shutout with 8 strikeouts. USA won 5-0.

Now that is coming off a full week's rest. I'm a little concerned with the start today with just two day's rest.

Let me clarify a top 10 type team, which he would see in a regional

RE: Baseball tournament thread
TXST had no options and that was why we lost 2 yesterday. The guy that started the first game was a middle relief/OF. Not sure how long it's been since he actually started a game. We ended the year with a 3rd pitcher, for anything, being a question mark. We threw our Friday guy in games 1 and 4; should never have happened that way. That shows a no confidence vote on our Sunday and weekday starters. It was just a bad year, all around. Making it to a game 4 surprised the heck out of me.

In the case of ULL, they have to go with their ace, I would think. They used 4 pitchers already and that means no one has the option of rest. It's for all the marbles.

USA has the luxury of 2 days off and their #1 hasn't pitched since Wednesday.

Should be a good game. Unfortunately, I'm about to head to work so get to miss it. Will have to sneak updates on my phone.

USA didn't play our ace on Wednesday against Arkansas State. We saved him for Thursday. So he only has 2 days rest.

Usa #1 pitched thursday and threw 112 pitches... Our #1 pitches Wednesday and threw 91 pitches. This is for all the marbles between 2 prigrams that have a long heated rivalry... Nobody has a luxury, I expect both teams to be throwing haymakers.

RE: Baseball tournament thread
Now, before I go (have to leave here is about 20 minutes) let me clarify a few things from earlier in the thread.
1. The use of effectively and truthiness are both grammatically incorrect. That said, the original statement was (paraphrased) "TXST doesn't beat UL in anything." In that context the statement was incorrect. No truth to it. I stand by that.
2. TXST has not been FBS for 4 years. 2015 will be 3rd year full FBS.
2011 FCS Transitional
2012 FBS Transitional
2013 FBS
3. If you think being DI in the SLC is the same as being DI in the SBC you aren't acquainted with life as an FCS/DI program as opposed to an FBS/DI program. It translates to all sports. You make that move and you start to get better athletes across the board. The assimilation of those athletes takes time. More so in some sports than others. For instance, 2015 will be the first season that every guy on the football team was recruited on the FBS level.
4. Basketball may not be fixed in my lifetime.
5. Baseball started a downward spiral (in recruiting) when we lost Coach Matlock to WVU. Something needs to be done because, at this point, I don't see improvement for next year; Harrington at the helm or not.

Please excuse any spelling or grammatical errors in this post. I'm in a rush to get this done and head out.
