Wouldn't be surprising -- they've been costing since they slept walk through a loss a Turner Field.

I wish Syracuse had a baseball team so I could root for something in the Summer. We have had a Triple A team in this city as long as I have been alive. It's never going to happen.

D1Baseball had GT as the last team in the field this past Wed. They then ran into a buzzsaw in Miami. The Canes have scored 170 runs over their last 12 games and were the worst opponent for GT to finish with.

I think they're out right now and will have to win some games this week to get back in.

RE: Open Thread - 2015 Baseball Season
I have to think that ends GT's season. They finish 13-18 in ACC play and ended the year on a 5 game losing streak. I know scores maybe shouldn't matter, but it can't help that in those 5 games they were outscored 59-5.

Their only hope is the committee seems RPI obsessed, and GT is still #31 with a #12 SOS.

Further proof they gave up after the Turner Field game. Losing 56-5 over the final 5-6 games was a pretty low low. It's time for Danny Hall to pack it in.

Hoo bats were strong, but some of the GT fielding looked lazy. The infield seemed a step too late on a few of the early hits.

Sounds like a "youth in Asia" moment.

RE: Open Thread - 2015 Baseball Season
Updated 5/19 D1Baseball NCAA projection (prior to today's games):

8 ACC teams in the field
1 Seed- Louisville (#3 National), Miami (#6 National), Florida St
2 Seed- North Carolina, Virginia, Notre Dame
3 Seed- NC State, Clemson

Clemson was the 2nd to last in the field. GT was the 3rd team out of the field. Nothing from ACC today would change the projections.

Danny has been on a slow but persistent decline. It's time for wholesale change.

#1 Louisville comes from down 4 runs to beat #8 North Carolina 7-4. UofL's manager decided he wanted a full week of rest for his weekend starters so he gambled and started a midweek guy tonight. He got hit hard but the Cards got 6 relief innings from one guy for the win. Now UofL has the full weekend rotation intact to pitch starting tomorrow.

RE: Open Thread - 2015 Baseball Season
Can someone remind me why the baseball tournament is in Durham? Sitting here watching the Clemson/UNC game and there might be 1500 people in the stands. Lots of empty seats behind home plate, huge gaps behind the dugouts and the stands down the foul lines and in the outfield are empty.

Did someone mess up and tell the hometwn UNC fans that it was a football game today?

6806 was the official attendance for the State game. Not bad for the Friday of the Memorial Day weekend and of course you could just watch on TV.
