Y'all have no idea how fun it is to have Devon Johnson stomping people in the name of your school.
McGuire's not a stomper. He just leaves the defenders wondering what the heck just happened. One of my favorite runs of his was against Texas State, it's late in this video as he heads towards the sidelines. Check it out.
That looks like a team who should be in CUSA. Not ODU or UNCC
I'm glad to see this poster finally got what he/she deserved. I hope he/she never finds his/her way back here again.

Im assuming HF is the same poster that has been banned from every Marshall message board. He has went by GreenBison60 or GB60 on them. But his posting is similar. Most Marshall fans have thought he is a Whovilleite in Green and White clothing for years.
As for me and most Marshall and CUSA fans think that ODU will be fine once they get a recruiting cycle in IA. Charlotte may take a little longer but both should be fine in time.

Johnson is clearly a very powerful runner. The only thing he lacks is breakaway speed as he gets run down a lot in the highlights. Of course if he had breakaway speed he'd be getting ready for the draft right now.

I don't recall rock head getting ran down often. He isn't getting ready for the draft right now because he came out of nowhere and had some injury issues.
RE: Top 10 G5 Running Backs, LaTech, WKU, and Marshall all featured
For a 243 pound guy, Johnson can fly. He had several 50-60-70 yard runs last year. If he replicates last year he'll go to the combine. If he does, he'll run in the 4.5s and will blow up the bench. He's a very strong dude.
For perspective, Ahmad Bradshaw ran a 4.58 and was in the 190s. He has had a very good NFL career. You don't have to be a 4.4 guy to be a great RB in the NFL, you have to be able to stick your foot in the ground, make one cut and get north and south with aggression. You also need to be able to pass protect, which is a strength of Johnson's and was the reason he was moved to RB last year in the first place.

Yeah Johnson is so slow he gets run down all the time...No person said last year ever when watching him.
Devon Johnson 4TDs vs FAU
Johnson is 6'1, 243 pounds and runs a 4.51. Johnson ran for 1800+ last year in basically was 9 games. He didn't play against USM and played a total of 7 downs in 3 other games. If he can do 12-1400 yards this year. which should be easy he should be drafted in the 2-4th rounds.
Johnson is also exceptional at pass blocking and something every NFL team looks for.

He had three 60 yard TDs in one game.
According to GSU Eagles he is slower than molasses and not very good. He was only the #1 RB on a 13-1 #22 team in the nation is all.
Of course this is the same poster that thinks Marshall is ducking the mighty GA Southern Eagles even though he has been told over and over that Marshall does not have a habit of signing contracts with SB teams. Only 2 contracts have been signed since we moved up and only 1 fulfilled.

You guys sure you don't want them (Ga Southern)? They've got a good football team but their egos are insufferable.

You can keep them. Marshall is 4-2 against the Statesboro people. While Marshall and GA Southern was in the SoCon together Marshall was 4-0 against them in the early to mid 90s. And outscored them 113-33 in those 4 games.

If I was looking for a power back, MU's Johnson but for a tailback its Dixon all the way. Runs a like a bigger Tony Dorsett. You also never see him get run down from behind.

I could have worded my comments on Johnson better. He has good speed, but not top end breakaway speed. Breida at Ga Southern has breakaway speed as he runs away from DBs, but at 190 he has nowhere near the power of Johnson. http://youtu.be/gJCpuxW4JW0 If Johnson had breakaway speed, he would probably be a first round pick. No doubt an impressive RB.
As far as the comment above I won't address it as I don't want to derail the thread, but Ga Southern did win 4 national titles to Marshall's 2 when we were both FCS. But let's keep the thread on topic.

On the NCAA site to get YPC you have to click more stats after individual. Neither of those players are even listed and guess who is on the top line? I would say NCAA= official.
Dixon was definitely a beast in the championship game... if it wasn't for him Tech would have had no offense. I wish Tech was on Marshall's schedule this year, maybe we'll see a rematch of the championship in huntington.
RE: Top 10 G5 Running Backs, LaTech, WKU, and Marshall all featured
Johnson breaks tackles with his size buy he is def more than a power back. Runs extremely well for his weight. I've never seen a forty time for Johnson but I know Ahmad Bradshaw ran a 4.6 at the combine and I figure DJ is about the same. Bradshaw even among Herd Fans was said to be too slow but played in the Super Bowl 10 months later.
RE: Top 10 G5 Running Backs, LaTech, WKU, and Marshall all featured
Jerick McKinnon, starting RB for the Vikings, ran a 4.35 at the combine in 2014. Multiple players at Ga Southern have said Breida is without a doubt faster than McKinnon. Looking at his burst, I believe it. He could be up there with Dre Archer.
RE: Top 10 G5 Running Backs, LaTech, WKU, and Marshall all featured
Nothing against Johnson but Dixon averages over 20 Tds a season and was 6th this year in rushing TDs. Johnson reminds me of John Riggins big and physical and when he gets rolling he carries guys with him for 5 yards.
