No one could shoot like Finch. Would have been all time scorer with Freshman games and 3 pt. line included
No one could pass like Penny. NBA ALL STAR
No one could drive like Rose. NBA R.O.Y.
CDR...................................CONSENSUS ALL AMERICAN
Got to include Tyreke NBA R.O.Y
No one could guard like AA. Only Member of the 1000+500+500 club.

Overall I guess Penny was the best guard the Tigers ever had because he could do so many things so well.

Clever.

But...

Joe Jackson. I terms of overall university contribution, he is in top five.

Not professional prospects, not singular spectacular tourney run, but four years and all considered, clearly in our top five.

How good would he have been without that thigh bruise his sophomore year?

Joe is 7th all time on the Tigers' scoring list.

CDR started at the 3 for us. Antonio and Rose were the guards, in CDR's last year..

Suprised Burks hasn't even been mentioned. He isn't top five but at least honorable mention.

Honorable Mention, then, in no particular order:

Elliot Perry
Elliot Williams
Tony Madlock'
Joe Jackson
Mingo Johnson
Cheyenne Gipson (doubles for the all-name team)
Will Barton
Doom Haynes

I think Antonio Burks deserves to be on the honorable mention list too. Good list!

No doubt! What about D Wash? Was Will B or Elliot Williams a PG?

CDR was awesome but never played point. We've had a lot of talent at PG over the years!

That's your opinion. Not one other person in this thread thus far agrees, aside from a few honorable mentions.

You are entitled to your opinion. It is noted that no else shares it.

These comparisons are a lot of fun. The only thing wrong with them is people tend to favor people in their age demographic. Some remember how good Win Wilfong, Finch, Butler were when guys in their early 20's don't. It gets to be who is everyone's favorite which is o.k. too. It's great to remember how many great players the Tigers had over the years.

Mingo was a beast in that Arkansas game, was that Sweet 16?

I've seen them all, back to Coach dean Ellers. Finch from the first day he started ( Fresh men could not play then) Was by far the best I've ever seen at Mem. and i would rate him in the top 10 in college, Pistol Pete being the best college guard I've ever seen.
