Couldn't agree more.
Boy, I sure didn't see this guy. Loved his attitude, but he was a huge liability on defense.
It's obvious some are using the NK transfer as just another reason to pile on Pastner... King was a 3-4 tweener with bad lateral movement, played poor D and couldn't shoot. Most of his numbers were posted vs inferior opponents. I wish the young man well, but he'll be barely missed here. Move on already.

Cal also had numerous recruits drafted before the one-and-done rule was put in place. This would have brought the likes of Amare Stoudemire, Kendrick Perkins, and Qyntel Woods through the M-Town.
Shhhhh! Doesn't fit the agenda!

Just making stuff up eh? His 5 best games, in respect to scoring, were against Wichita State, UCF, Gonzaga, ECU, and SMU...

Nick King and Pookie Powell to Transfer
NK was all about Memphis and always wanted to be a Tiger.. King was not a great player by any means butt he was a player that mixed it up inside, especially rebounding, when others wouldn't.. He did lack a few skills which really hurt him but he had tenacity and hustled and gave it his all on a poorly Coached team..

RE: Nick King and Pookie Powell to Transfer
I'm not siding with either end of the spectrum here.
I've noticed that a player's perceived weaknesses in high school usually become glaring problems in the college game.
In addition, a player's perceived strengths in high school don't always translate to great strengths in the college game.
Some of it is biology. Some of it is player development. Either way, it's not an exact science.
Not just Nick, by the way. Pretty much every kid.

I agree completely.. good kid that wanted to be here, that's what stings. And I think if he goes to Murray St he'll kill it there.

Murray State or Mississippi for King. Not sure Pookie will go high major.

I looked at FSU's recruting class and they signed 3 FOUR STAR guards. They are SG's but maybe able to play PG too. They are getting some pretty good players, so I am not too sure, if I was Pookie, that FSU would be the best place for me to go...if I wanted playing time. They also return their #1 scorer, a freshman guard who averaged 14.9 points a game. Just saying that they seem pretty loaded at the guard position right now and for a while to come. But, who knows. I guess we just see how it plays out. For a local Orlando kid, maybe Florida Southern, UCF or Rollins?

Pookie would be restricted from transferring to UCF or USF as they are AAC schools.

Nick King and Pookie Powell to Transfer
At the end of this season teams were literally daring Nick King to shoot the open jumper. Wherever he ends up if they play him as a stretch wing he will be an offensive liability until he learns to hit open jumpers. I hate to see him leave, but his minutes were going to go down next year, because the Lawson's are going to play.

Stetson is another local area college basketball program that could work for Pookie. Also Bethune Cookman in Daytona Beach. Another option.

At the end of the season teams were daring all Tigers to take the perimeter shot not just Nick. The Lawsons will help but don’t forget Burrell proved he could rebound, defend, take it to the rim, and hit the 3 ball. Too bad he was in the doghouse for an important stretch of the season, but don’t be surprised if he gets the bulk of the minutes at the wing.
I wouldn’t be surprised at anything that happens next season with all of the new faces plus the elephant will still be in the room. One thing he has shown me is he’s virtually clueless as what to do with talent.

I spoke with Markel Crawford's brother at work... He played with Nick King at East High... King didn't listen to people who advised him to develop his game... He thought he was gonna be dominant just like he was in high school... His friends are not surprised he under performed with the Tigers.
Kid was just LAZY.

King can score. He's not an offensive liability. That's absurd. The kid shot about 35% from deep in the second half of the season.

King closed out the season going 5 of 14 from deep. Not terrible.

I believe even Easterwood provided some insight on this several weeks ago.

Kings numbers for the season .404 from two and .250 from three. I'll say it again until he can consistently hit the "outside" shot, teams will dare a 25% shooter to beat them.
