Because of a severe lack of available parking on its campus, Rice Athletic Department officials announced today that the Owls' September 1 home game against the University of Houston has been moved to NRG Stadium. Kickoff is still listed as TBA.

Given what JK has pulled off recently, I'm sure they are thinking about this.

Good grief it is amazing UT and A&M can draw 2500 given their parking situations. People once traveled on buses from various spots around the city to come to Rice games because the parking lot wasn't big enough...circa 1950's.

If we could work a good deal with the med center the parking situation would go from difficult to not bad at all.

NOOOOOOO!!!!! Terrible move. Make people shuttle from the parking lots at NRG or the Med Center. There goes our home field advantage and here comes another poor showing of Rice fans at NRG.

Nope. We're full in 2016. Just announced a home game with Lamar to go with OU, Louisville and @ Texas State.

I'm glad to see Rice has agreed to play on campus. I suppose the proposed Rice Stadium renovation has something to do with that.

With Herman and Bailiff's relationship, resuming the series was bound to happen with or without Mack Rhoades, although his pending departure may have sped up things. Y'all really managed to piss him off. BTW he's still here until the end of the month, unless we hire his replacement sooner.

Finally, I'm glad to see the first game is at UH. I'm sure this was a non-negotiable condition given the recent shenanigans.

As far as I can tell, Rick Greenspan managed to piss everybody off.

Flatter yourselves if you must, but we needed a home game in the second year of the deal. Probably was not a hard fought point. That said, can't wait to get it on.

I'd defer to others, but I believe we used to use the rugby/soccer/IM fields to park cars. Many other Universities, including the pristine fields up at West Point do this, and unless we have heavy rain our fields are in pretty sad shape already. One game a year isn't gonna hurt.

I'm sure we still have RG's phone number. We will pass it along to you. I'm guessing Pede is campaigning for the job.

Mike Pede would be awesome as the UH AD. Where do we vote?

I think a poll of Parlimentary vote of cobfidence between Pede and Greenspan is in order

Nah, Pede could be AD while Greenspan gets the newly-created position of Conference Realignment Coordinator.

03-lmfao

Okay, now THAT was funny.

I think the fact that we already have Stanford and Army at home in 2017 and in 2018 we're AT Hawaii and AT Wake Forest was the determining factor. We need the OOC Home game in 2018 otherwise we risk playing 3 or 4 on the road.

Frankly, I doubt UH cared. They have Tech (and now Rice) at home in 2017 and AZ away, and AZ at home in 2018 and Rice and Tech away. If you swap the Rice game, it really doesn't change anything for them.
