One piece I don't see is a high-points guard, unless Andrews really takes off. Maybe Pollard?

I know the America East conference is pretty far down the NCAA Basketball scale, but Pollard was 6th in PPG for the conference his junior year at Maine. I expect him to start next year, and be one of our top 3 scorers.

Then he will have to be more effective than Rutgers transfers. 05-stirthepot

RE: Basketball Offseason
Pollard will be a nice piece, but to say right now he will be one of our top 3 scorers is a little premature. Just way too early to know.

I wouldn't mind seeing Geno land there. 1) I don't hate him, so I'd like to see him get work. 2) I'd love to know that BG is paying their coach money that is being forwarded to our athletic department. 3) I'd be confident that we'd have an edge over BG on the sideline.

RE: Basketball Offseason
Quote:2015-16 Preview: Mid Majors, Part II

Kent State's losses include point guard Derek Jackson and second-leading scorer Devareaux Manley. Of those three teams, though, Kent State is definitely the one best primed to still be strong next season. They return star Jimmy Hall (15.9 ppg, 7.7 rpg) as well as a couple of quality bigs in Chris Ortiz and Khaliq Spicer. Throw in 6'10" Juco transfer Marvin Jones and that's a lot of big bodies. Kent State's hole in terms of returning experience is in the backcourt, but that should be allayed by additions. First, they should get back 5'11" Kellon Thomas (6.5 ppg and 1.9 apg as a sophomore in 2013-14), who missed almost the entire 2014-15 season with injury. They also add 6'4" Xavier Pollard, who averaged 14.7 ppg and 3.8 apg as a junior at Maine in 2013-14, as well as 6'2" Deon Edwin, who played sparingly as a freshman at Southern Miss in 2012-13. They also pick up a pair of nice 2015 backcourt recruits in Jalen Avery and Devon Andrews. All things considered, Kent State could actually be better next season.

In the end, here's how I see the top half of the MAC playing out (ignoring division membership):

1. Buffalo
2. Central Michigan
3. Kent State
4. Akron
5. Western Michigan

RE: Basketball Offseason
Needs a correction: CMU was not the sole regular season champ. They were co-champs with UB and KSU.

RE: Basketball Offseason
Never good to lose a player in the rotation but I have to believe we will be able to replace him without any noticeable drop off. I didn't see him replacing Jackson, Manley or Brewer.

He made some good contributions and seemed to play hard. We should thank him for the efforts and I wish him the best. I hope he finds a place where he can be a starter.
