no it doesn't

Some folks that actually know him seem to think that (A) he will end up back in NC, and (B) are guessing either ECU (his father went there), UNCC, or UNCW (Keatts).

His father was a great player here, scored 40 something one game. Completely different though at 6-8, 240 post player I heard we are on him but we don't have any scholarships at this time we might try to make some room. Our best player is only a freshman last year and plays his same position though.

Don't think that means much. Coaches can/have/do always promise a kid like this the world. "Oh yeah, you'd start immediately."

We'll he can't afford to go somewhere he's not going to get the playing time this time he wants and use his redshirt. It's something I would think he would consider when our two best players are a freshman and sophmore on the wings and he's never sounded like a true PG to me and we recruited him for years. More of an undersized 2. Tyson especially as a similar player at SG and already having the 6th highest Player Efficiency Rating in the AAC. We aren't a good team but he's a great player that's only going to get better. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if he didn't come here now if it got Tyson more minutes and kept him happy. Lebo's dumb*** already only played him 24 a game last year and he averaged 13ppg and led us in scoring.

Interesting fun fact: Keatts was espied up in Syracuse with the Louisville team this past weekend at the East Regional final.

Someone (pretty sure it was Mullet) mentioned that it doesn't seem likely for Gill to go play for an assistant that recruited him to Louisville and then it turned out he didn't enjoy Louisville...

That's ridiculous, IMO. These things happen. Playing time can be a result of more than just not liking your coaches. Maybe he really likes Pitino, but knows that there are more talented athletes in front of him that suck up all the playing time. Maybe that's the case, and he really just wants to play more. Seems like a good fit to go play for a guy that recruited you to the big school who also happens to be the coach of a smaller school that may be able to offer more playing time. That being said, it seems like we don't have a ton of space in the guard slots to bring him in. Mullet is right that obviously, someone would have to go... but who?

Found a great quote from Jonesn from the Zone days, in May 2012:

Quote:"Jeff Lebo took over a Pirates program that was in major need of a attitude and talent injection. In short time, Lebo has given it both...... the Pirates will be in great position to make a run for the NCAA tournament.".......ESPN article: 5 Teams Poised to Make the Dance Next Year

We are a lot better off.

Good find 08. How long will it take jonesin to make a denial that he ever made that statement?

Better off but not in position for an ncaa run any time soon.

Well, at least Jones'n has come to terms with the truth. That's the first step to recovery.

I admit, it took me longer than it should have to come to terms with that in the Benny Moss era.

If you're not 100 % positive you have a solid coach by then end of Year 2, you probably have a dud. Coaches rarely just turn on a light switch all of a sudden.

RE: Possible transfer out of Louisville
The Benny Moss era...

Everytime I hear those words I'm reminded of the game I attended when UNCW visited Kent St during the 08-09 season I think it was when Tomko was screaming F bombs at Moss from across the court. I remember sitting in the stands behind the team with my wife and we just kind of looked at each other and for a moments wished we weren't there. That was a dark, sad time.

Coach Keatts though! Whew!!!!

Just the fact that we are to a point where it's a realistic possibility that we can siphon talent from a school like Louisville is outstanding. I remember being equally happy when Todd Hendley came to us from Wake Forest. He sat out the 04-05 season due to transfer rules, but dominated at UNCW during his remaining eligibility. He was also a super fun guy to hang out with, and a History major. All around great guy.

My guess is not UNCW or ECU,he seems like he could play at a little higher level.ECU is terrible and UNCW plays in a very weak league. It also seems like he would want a fresh start and do things on his own merit.

We are a lot better off.

That was actually a quote from ESPN's recruiting coordinator and article not me.

He was right tough on the talent, the coaching just sucked. We won the CIT and had an RPI of 67 that year after the season. If Lebo played Akeem Richmond more than 20 freaking minutes a game behind scrubs we would have had an NCAA caliber team.

Richmond signed an NBA contract the next year. 07-coffee3 Paul was worked out by NBA teams, Kemp was a all world and our best player, Sampson went to Georgia Tech after, and Armstrong was a transfer from Auburn and good too. Lebo squandered it like he did with but the talent was there just like he's squandering Tyson away this year. He'll be the best player we have had since Blue Edwards if he doesn't leave so at least their is hope. Basically just play the guy 35 minutes a game and we will improve if for nothing else that..

The "We are a lot better off" was the part you said. I can't imagine an ESPN recruiting coordinator using "We" when talking about ECU.

Kind of sad isn't it? You're recruiting decently thanks to AAC affiliation but you can't find a decent coach to come out to Greenville.

Sometimes it does come down to location, location, location. We've been telling you this for years but you never listen.

Actually we got a 4 star ESPN 6-10 guy committed last week. Little more than decent. Lebo's actually a good coach, he's rotations however are the worst I have ever seen on the planet.

Quote:Sometimes it does come down to location, location, location. We've been telling you this for years but you never listen.

as if Wilmington is a coaching hotbed of basketball. We got the money to take your coach if we wanted. Enjoy it while it last, we'll eventually get a coach that will actually play the star players he brings in. That's really the only problem right now. The conference exposure recruiting, 20 million dollar practice facility etc is certainly all on the rise and someone will want this job when we can get out of the ridiculous extension they gave Lebo last year. He already makes 3 times what we paid the last coach. This isn't the same program, the foundation is there and money, just got a stupid coach right now and AD. That said he still was better than yours most of this decade.
