If you want a short term coach
Not only we need a new coach, we also need new radio people. The 2 guys who announce our home games are horrible. They say more negative things about the team than positive. Plus they are so boring, we need young energy on the radio.

If you want a short term coach
Let's just hope my guy (Mareik) come back. I was told that he have several schools (about 7) interested in him. I heard a couple of Big 12 schools would like him to come and give them a real outside threat at 6'9.

I know Mareik will graduate this summer with 2 years of eligibility left.

Just means we better make sure he does not graduate this summer.

That would not be good for UALR if that happens

I mean this summer. We don't need our players graduating after 3 seasons.

B, you suggested that many would transfer if there was not a coaching change. Does that mean the players didn't like Coach Shields? Will they stay if we get a replacement they like? Or do they just not like UALR or Little Rock?

Need Mo to graduate this summer but continue at UALR playing the 3. This young man will play in the NBA but if UALR does not guarantee he will be allowed to play his natural position, he will be playing for a D1 school someplace else.

If Mareik stays a Trojan, playing his natural position and with our returning players (except 2) our new coach would have a great chance of success and Mo would be able to show his talents.

I would love to see him play at the top of a 131.

Looking like James W and Mareik are trying to get out. Chasse needs to find a coach that will convince them to stay. Really don't think that will be that difficult since the primary job of most assistants is to be recruiters and good "salesmen".

You hit the nail on the head. You weren't out in Las Vegas when we played in that tournament, but Green Bay had a young man who was really good, and he was long, and he gave the perimeter shooters fits because they had a difficult time shooting over him. I have thought about Mariek in that same situation, and your comment brought that back to me. Only problem we had this year was when James W. got hurt, Mariek was the only height we had to try and block shots around the basket. Sure hope he stays with the program. These next two years are his time!04-cheers

The fact that both are in a "rush" to graduate does not sound good to me. That is the one way to get around the transfer rule that requires you to sit out a year. Neither one would be willing to sit out- but if they graduate they can go anywhere that has a graduate program that UALR doesn't offer. Apparently that is a pretty easy thing to do.

If you want a short term coach
It's going to hurt if we lose the corner stones we have in jw, mo and the kid from Shreveport

At the moment, I am hopeful we will hire the "right" coach and these kids will stay. Still, when you change coaches you often have a turnover in players. Don't remember how late it was that we hired Mike Newell. He was sure able to go out and get some good players right after he was hired. How he was able to do that I don't know, and I'd rather keep it that way.

That's a change that's been needed for years.
