They could have used a 10 second clock in the Sun Belt Championship game yesterday. Final score, Georgia State 38 Georgia Southern 36. Sets basketball back about 30 years.

Or at least 2001 when Mason beat out UNCW 35-33 in the CAA final game. I remember watching that game and it was painful. to Mason's credit they lost to Maryland 83-80 in the tourney when Maryland went to the Final Four

I don't think this is necessarily true. While there certainly would be a greater number of possessions and scores would go up by virtue of that alone, it's a shorter time that you have to defend for. In essence, you might see points per possession drop even as overall scores go up. I have no data to support this, it's just my theory.

Put it this way- UVA would love to see a shorter shot clock, because teams would have even less time per possession to move the basketball and crack their defense. More shots isn't the same as good shots. You'd likely see a dip in offensive efficency, and probably more turnovers. The trend has been for teams to run their offenses at a slower pace.

I'd love to be able to find numbers from the 1992-93 and 93-94 seasons (when the shot clock was reduced from 45 to 35 seconds) but I think you're right.

Ticket sales very, very low/slow for Tulsa. Not much change from 1/2 hour after they went on sale this morning until 6 hours later. At this rate I'd be surprised if they had 2,000 in attendance. Good for the Tribe. We'd have put a lot more fannies in the arena in the 'Burg.

RE: Tulsa
From a Sept/2013 article:
http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/co...ddb60.html
The University of Tulsa's attendance average continues to plummet. At the 8,355-seat Reynolds Center, the 2010-11 average was 5,676. This season's average is 4,301. As the Golden Eagles savor a special season, Oral Roberts University's home attendance has jumped this season to 4,629 per game. During the 2010-11 season, however, it sunk to a dismal average of 3,369 (down from 4,662 in 2009-10).
When he was a guard at TU in 2000-04, Jason Parker routinely played before home crowds of 7,000-plus. TU's current 4,301 average is based on tickets sold and not actual attendance. For some Golden Hurricane home games this season, the attendance appeared to be closer to 2,000 than to 4,301.
Their 2013 season avg was 4,580, and 2014 was 4,528.

Unfortunate that it's in about the worst location possible for Tribe fans to get to. Would have loved to have a good Tribe contingent at an away game.

Of the 5 CAA teams, only Hofstra is favored in their game.

Apparently they are on Spring Break this week which may drastically reduce their attendance.

Anyone planning to go to Miller Hall for the viewing party? We are trying to decide whether we do that or not.

I was thinking about it. Is that the only viewing party? I guess ESPN3 is hard to come by for local restaurants?

It's the only one I know of. I have to imagine very few, if any, restaurants are at all setup to stream ESPN3 games. I've not heard of any at least - most seem confused enough if you want something on ESPNU or NBCSN.

Fwiw - I would also be more inclined if it was at a local restaurant. Miller hall is probably the nicest place on campus to do it at least.

Looks like the team has landed in Tulsa. I'm impressed with the quick turnaround.

IMO, tribeathletics does a pretty good job with social media. Some great pics of the team.

RE: Tulsa
Interesting pre-game press conference....drilled over and over about not getting in the NCAA 64 and can they get up for NIT...Haith stated at the end of the presser, that their strategy in the Saturday loss against UConn was to try to score in the first 10 sec of every possession, but not give up outside TO's enabling UConn to score against their non-set defense....Looks like the key is to not let Woodard get in any rhythm. We may have a real shot here.
