Looked like a lot more than 3200 to me.

Was definitely as big a crowd as the 4185 at the Delaware game. Less paying tics behind the basket end, but a great student turnout. Can't help but believe student counts are not included.

Monster game from Terry, who has to be CAA 1st team or it will be a crime of the century....and again, Tom Schalk continues to step his game up as his career winds down.

Wish Marcus had gotten the record in exclamation fashion on the slam attempt. That play would have been a contender for Sports Center play of the year. Two daggers from him at the end to seal the game. A shame that as POY the officials allow him to be mauled every game and not put him on the foul line much more. He deserves better from the League.

Where oh where have you gone, Sean Sheldon??

Puzzled by Mike Schlotman not getting off the bench tonight???

Credit Towson for playing hard in the second half and making their run. We played at times tonight at an energized level on both ends as high as this team has played this year. Good sign for this team's upside the rest of the way. Much better for these guys to get that push from Towson in the second half, than to have had a cakewalk.

Great to see Billymac get some deserved recognition tonight....Thanks for 25 years!!

Charlie Woollum alluded in post game to Daniel possibly being back on Saturday??
Love to see the KAP packed to the rafters Saturday for Marcus' last home game.

RE: Towson II
Thanks, guys. Much appreciated.

I agree, the dunk would have been Top 10 material. The replay on TribeTV was spectacular.
The plan is to get Daniel some action on Saturday. He practiced yesterday, but was held out for caution.
Who ever thought the Tribe would be a shot blocking machine... 9 blocks.

Lots of voters around the league are coming around to Terry as 1st Team player. He is probably a "bubble" player right now, because there are several "scorers" who will get votes. If he has another 20+ game on Saturday, it might be very hard to keep him off. Remember, we have never had two 1st Team members in the same season. Heck, we've only had two 1st Teamers, period, outside of Marcus (Adam Hess, Randy Bracy), much less two in one year. Time to break another record.

Congrats to Marcus. Thanks to Jay & Charlie.

He's leading the league in rebounds, steals, and blocked shots. Top five in FG% and FT%. Top 20 in scoring.

If nothing else you could argue he's the league defensive player of the year.

Just a wonderful, memorable night at the Kap. Great energy from the crowd, unreal pre-game
electricity.

And there were lots more than the announced 3300 there...had to be over 4000 folks attending.

Students have adopted this team.

Marcus and Terry dominated.

Saturday's 2 PM game promises more of the same. Unbelievable that it will be the last game for Marcus Thornton ever in Kaplan Arena.

Got to win too...will be the first ever regular season championship for the Tribe.

For clarification, we also tied for the regular season championship (just as we likely will do this year if we win) in 97-98. We lost the 1 seed that year due to a coin flip but were regular season champions that year.

I'm not sure if it counts that way or not. Even Marcus on the radio last night said that W&M has "never won a regular season title".

Anyway..

Last night was one of my proudest moments as a W&M sports fan. Marcus isn't only a great player, but appears to be a class act on and off the court. From everyone I know that has has interactions with him, he's a great young man.

I want to see us win on Saturday so that Marcus is guaranteed to get to see the postseason in his W&M career. The saddest thing is the realization that we only have a few games left to watch him as a Tribe player.

In my mind, "winning the regular season title" means you get the #1 seed at the conference tournament and a guaranteed NIT as a backup plan. Ties, coin flips, whatever, we've never had that situation.

In 1997-98, there was no NIT auto-bid. The coin flip was for seeding only, which is why the coin flip hadn't been changed at that point.

+1 Tribe was co-champ in regular season that year. Period. Saturday, if the Tribe beats Drexel, will be second championship, likely shared with at least one other team.

I don't want W&M on the same side of the bracket as JMU or Delaware. Delaware for obvious reasons and JMU because I want to have two teams to root for as long as possible.

As far as exercising demons goes, I am not sure who I would least like to face in the finals, JMU or Delaware? I guess Delaware, but even though I now root for JMU, '83 still stings. I expected the Indians to win that night, and I never expected the W&M to win in any of their three subsequent trips to the finals.

Go Tribe, beat the Dragons!

There is no way I am not considering us regular season champs in 97-98. It had to go to coin flip for seeding purposes because all other tiebreakers were used up. Hopefully we do a lot better in this CAA tourney than that tourney

Makes no difference who we see in the tournament, as long as we avoid Delaware. I must admit, though, I would love a matchup with JMU somewhere along the way.

only 3227 in attendance? You gotta be kidding me. Who's in charge of counting? A JMU grad?

Against Elon he had a double-double- 11 points, 10 boards. In the 4 games since then he's had a combined 16 points and 9 rebounds. His playing time has been going down as well, which is a reasonable response to this lack of production.

Didn't he have an injury? Is the injury still affecting him?

He played well in the first half against Hofstra. In that game, he and Tarpey carried us in the first half while Marcus and Omar struggled. I tend to look it as the stats for Schalk/Sheldon combined. Schalk has been playing well, but we have always had the 2 post system since 2009. Dixon is the key. When we have him and he is playing well, we are much tougher to stop offensively plus it takes a little pressure off of Omar, Marcus, and Terry. Cannot say enough about how Tarpey has played the last two games. We need 4 more wins in a row.

RE: Towson II
Sean's 11 pts at Hofstra was deceiving, since he missed several point blank layups in that 1st half, and only had 2 rebounds in 19 mins against a guard oriented team.

I have high expectations for what I think Sean is capable of bringing to this team. He has played very small around the basket with his layup opportunities and needs to be powering the ball to the rack to get the added bonus of drawing fouls, whether he makes his free throws or not. I expect Sean to be channeling his close Michigan State football buddies' mentality in the post, and banging folks around some. Daniel's return is very important, but Sean has just as important an impact on where this team goes the remainder of the way and he's a good enough athlete to be bringing a lot more to the mix, despite the ankle injury setback. Not sure what he said or did to draw that late game, dead ball foul, but need to see that frustration positively focused. We need Sean to be playing with a lot more confidence in his abilities. Go Tribe!
