Austin Nichols Wants a Crowd for SMU and TULSA Games
Just got this video below via email. Not sure whether the boycotters will be there to support the team. My guess is that Coach Pastner will be here next year too. So, why not just go support the team? Austin's message is pretty clear. It is time for ALL the FANS to show up.

In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the Tiger. ~ William Shakespeare

I feel so bad for that guy. While I realize that very few places support a losing effort. Memphis has never supported a losing team the way Chicago supports the Cubs, etc, and never will. And I realize as any person that has been playing athletics their whole life realizes, that, you take the bad with the good, and it is just a game. But it definitely is rough when you have visions of playing in front of your home crowd, competing on really good teams, in front of full crowds.. and then it doesn't materialize that way. That's got to be tough for a hometown kid.

I feel bad for him too, but because of the fact that we have loser fans that think that Memphis basketball this year is a "losing effort." At the first sign of not being a tournament team; we have loser fans that label it as a loser and abandon it.
It has to be tough on a player when the team is still not officially eliminated from the tournament that it has played in for the last 4 years, and our loser fans are already giving up on it.

No offense.
We don't give up on the team. We give up on the coach. Our way of showing that is not going. If we still go, it looks good on the coach. We don't want that. Next question.

Actually, it makes our fans look like losers. Most of them don't, but a lot of them do. There are a lot of people that showed up for the free tickets against UConn, and that was during some awful weather you guys were having. If people gave up the tickets in the lower bowl they aren't using, there are a lot of people that would be grateful to have them.
Austin Nichols is a Memphian who saw the packed houses with his own two eyes since he was in elementary school. The team was ranked the entire regular season last year and less than 5 games into this season, there are a lot of empty seats. That makes the fans look like losers.

And all that would be even more meaningful if we had a losing team.
Funny how that crap narrative has been allowed to control.
Disappointing a bit?
Yes.
But 17-10, even if to the slack jaws, the wins do not mean much, is hardly losing, and the prior several years were not even close.
While we understand the extra sympathy for poor Nichols...this is Memphis, and he is a part of it. And will be a big part next year when the team is winning much bigger again...maybe even a lot bigger.
RE: Austin Nichols Wants a Crowd for SMU and TULSA Games
But yes.
Tommy West was right.
Our fanbase has major issues. Any sign of trouble...and our own fanbase treats our team and coaches in the same manner as a fan of Utk would treat us.
Weak willed. It takes a tough manner to be supportive. It is easier to be douchy and bash your own as a defense mechanism, look at me, I am so cool a sub par season does not hurt me...I mean look, I am derisively mocking our coach!
Memphis.
Remember that...even with this new found sympathy for poor old Austin Nichols, subjected to this abject misery of a NCAA game winner last year, a likely NIT team this year, and potential top twenty or better teams the next few. Of which, remember this, he is a major factor in all directions. Like all the rest.

Well, you aren't going to be there either, so by definition aren't you going to also be one of those 'loser fans' to which you refer?

Yes sir, Mr. Nichols. Count me in! And I'll stop by the club level for a delicious brew with time to warm my seat and cheer you during intro.....as well as the Tigers....as I am a Tiger Fan.
