HUGE road win for us. Kozinski's 5 threes in the second half really jumped started CMU.

Tied for first in the west, baby! 04-cheers

BG has a chance to take sole possession of 1st place with a win today, a loss puts them into a 5 way tie for first.

BGSU Falcons lead by new coach Chris Jans has them at 17-6 and 9-3 in conference and all alone in first place after taking care of business today at Ball State.

Did Orr really undercoach some talented players, or is Jans just getting his guys to overachieve? Seems like a home run hire for BG so far.

Orr was a super guy but a horrible division 1 college coach. Would make a good assistant coach to a coach that was an in your face type but as a head coach simply horrible. Orr all but ruined the fan base for men's basketball at BG.

Thank you Bill Frack and thank you coach Jans.

Actually, your team definitely has some talent. But I have to agree with some on your message board: your coach spends too much time carping at the refs and not enough coaching his players. Once we made adjustments at halftime and stopped turning the ball over ( 03-banghead ), it was like your guys started playing 1-on-5 offense.

and hurley is not coach k. his complaining is not getting him many calls. maybe, an occasional one at home to shut him up for a second, but that's it. still, i think he was a good hire. the team plays hard and knows it's strengths. the recruiting seems pretty good. good basketball at buffalo really helps the mac.

I think we were picked to finish third or fourth in the East for a reason. We have a lot of good pieces, but we lost a lot last year. I was actually surprised at how well we were playing early in the year, but it is catching up with us a little.

That said, I still have no idea who is winning this league come next month in March and it could still be UB??

I figure there's going to be a 5-way tie at 10-6 at the end of the regular season. Whoever ends up with that 5th seed is going to be mad. If Buffalo could win out, maybe they can make it a 6-way tie!

As you were.

I think some high school basketball games out drew them last night.

There were 552 in attendance at the University of Minnesota Men's Gymnastics meet vs Nebraska and UIC.

Kent State averaged over 1400 people at its home gymnastics meets in 2010 good for 24th best in the country. Not sure about other years.

RE: MAC BBall WK14 (2/8 - 2/14)
Here's how we look after 12 games-

#1 BGSU (9-3).

#2-#5 Akron/Kent St/Toledo/CMU (8-4). Akron has tie breaker over Kent and CMU, Kent has tie breaker over Toledo and CMU, Toledo has tie breaker over Akron, CMU has tie breaker over Toledo, I have no idea how to sort these out but one of these teams will get a triple bye and move straight to the semi-finals and one of these teams will have to play 5 games to win the tournament.

#6-#7 WMU/Buffalo (6-6). Split head to head series.

#8 EMU (5-7). Stands alone in last spot for home game in Rd1.

#9-#10 NIU/Miami (4-8). Split head to head series.

#11 Ohio (4-8). Lost head to head with NIU and Miami, has one more game with Miami.

#12 Ball St (2-10). Unlikely to move out of 12th, lost tie breakers to #9-#11.

E-mail from an EMU fan who attended the game yesterday:

"But considering the terrible weather it was OK. We had blizzard conditions most of the day. I-94 was closed for 2 hours …..the stretch between Belleville and Rawsonville Rds..."

EDIT: That is the area about 8 miles to the East of EMU. It is the route to EMU I take when I'm in town...

MAC BBall WK14 (2/8 - 2/14)
The tiebreaker for those four teams is head-to-head among all four.

Without bothering to type it all out at this early stage:
KSU would be 2nd, Akron 3rd, CMU 4th, then UT the odd man out.

Too early for all that to mean much, though.

Jeremy Guy tweeted this last night:

I was looking at the box score from the EMU-Akron game yesterday. Akron took 78 shots in a game that didn't go to overtime? By comparison, EMU only had 49 FG attempts. That is a huge discrepancy when you consider that EMU won the game.
