RE: Daniel Dixon
When Sheldon was out for a few games, Schalk stepped up and showed us what he is capable of. I think we'll see the other guards step in and show us some great stuff. Next man up.

A strain is a tear. Usually when people say it's only a strain, they are indicating a low-grade tear. Grade I is less than 10% of the muscle fibers torn, Grade II is 10-90%, and Grade III is greater than 90%. Let's hope for Grade I, or even a pull rather than a strain.
I'm 100% on board with giving him an extra week (if we have it prior to the tournament) if it gets him any healthier.
Not to argue semantics, but typically when people say they "pull" their hamstring they are talking about a very serious strain that takes a long time to recover from. Regardless - hamstring injuries of any kind are no joke.

RE: Daniel Dixon
Anyone who has suffered a hamstring injury of any type understands they are no joke, whether they are termed a pull, a strain or a tear and need to be rested until the hamstring is ready. Rushing back from a hamstring or playing through it is the recipe for a more serious injury and I think we all get that.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Daniel for his healing and return at the appropriate time. Our hopes are that his injury is not severe, that his recovery is swift, and that the next man up will have a chance to shine while Daniel is out.

Tony said on radio that Tot & Schlotman will fill in for Dixon. Whether pulled or strained,
hamstrings are tricky. I believe it was Hamilton of the California Angels last year who had
a hamstring injury and he missed months.
This, apparently, doesn't appear as serious but goal should be to get Daniel ready for the CAA Tourney.
Ollie and Mike have great ability and I look forward to them filling in for Dixon without missing a beat.

Hammies are tricky. Even when you feel pretty good, they are easily reaggrivated. I agree with BT, rest & treatment until the tournament and give him a go if he is cleared.

Isn't "thoughts and prayers" a little dramatic?
Its not like he lost a foot to frostbite or anything.

Maybe, but I don't really reserve thinking or praying until things are dire, they are everyday occurrences.

If you want drama, our board has it. We have the full range of ideas from "thoughts and prayers" to goat sacrifice and a desire to stalk the team in Baltimore. Plenty of true fans here. At least we are not the Northeastern board where they have a team in 2nd place with one fan. Plus, we don't have a thread with a million posts searching for a low level FBS conference so we can play Houston and Tulsa.

I don't know whether "thoughts and prayers" is too dramatic, but my first thought was how Daniel's mom (who is an absolute delight -- just watch her during games) must be feeling. Any parent would be deeply concerned, but she is such an enthusiastic supporter of her son that I know this is a little crushing as we get near the playoffs. My wife was that way every time our son was hit by a pitch or took a charge.

Adversity will make this team stronger in the long run. I don't know that a week or two will change much one way or another. We still need to win out in Charm City

Injuries are part of every season. In a sense, they are fascinating because they give others a chance to emerge. Sooner or later the team has to adjust to the re-entry of the erstwhile injured player. Teams and seasons are works in progress. There is no finish line.

I believe it was a hamstring injury that caused Mike Schlotman not to be able to play for most all of his first year at W&M. Every time he attempted to play, he would reinjure the hamstring.

RE: Daniel Dixon
Tom Schalk averaged more than 20 points a game his senior year in high school playing on a team whose point guard, Tyus Jones, now starts as a Freshman for Duke. Jack Whitman was first team all state as a senior in Kentucky, just like Omar, and was actually a little higher rated than Omar heading into his senior year. Mike Schlotman was a three year starter at point guard for a nationally ranked high school team and was first team all state in Indiana. Greg Malinowski was first team all state on a very good private school team in Virginia and made the Washington Post All Met team. And Oliver Tot started on his country's national team. This, my fellow posters, is the William & Mary bench. In my prior lifetime, this could have been our starting five.
It is a shame that Daniel is hurt right now, but the most important thing is for him to be healthy in March when we get a chance to punch our ticket to the Big Dance. It would be great if we could pull off six more "one game winning streaks" over the remainder of February and hit Baltimore with a full head of steam and a regular season crown and #1 seed on our resume, and a healthy Daniel would certainly make that easier. But with the gang listed above, I see no reason why we cannot still hit Baltimore on a roll with an even better bench than we could have ever imagined. I am confident that our bench players will embrace their new roles during Daniel's absence and that we will not miss a beat.
Daniel, heal fast and heal completely.

Maybe we should have a car wash to raise money for the family to help them get through this dark time of a week long recovery from a tweaked hamstring? It may help offset the expense for the Icy Hot.
It will go well with the prayer vigil.

Published a quick little piece on Dixon's injury. Included his point production versus every team in the CAA this season, and figured out how it directly relates to wins for the Tribe. Tot, Malinowski, and Schlotman will need to step up. Next man up! Roll Tribe Roll.
