LOL @ the UNC & Syracuse defense tactic.

Glad that you noticed that we are a multi sports program & not one dimensional like Clemson.

True...At Louisville we actually care about Both Revenue Sports...some schools only care about the one that they are good at...much like Kansas and it Basketball Program in regards to it Football Program...07-coffee3

Basketball will always be a sideshow at Clemson for a number of reasons.

#1. We are a small town campus in a rural region. The majority of basketball talent comes from urban high schools. For whatever reason the allure of Clemson for football recruits doesn't translate to basketball recruits.

#2. Football pays the bills, and football reaps the rewards. Hard to draw and keep a quality coach when they are always going to be second banana on campus no matter how successful they are.

#3. It's hard to have decent crowds for weeknight games when the vast majority of your fanbase is >1 hour away. Even with a baseball program that has made the NCAAs every year but one since 1987 we have trouble drawing for weeknight baseball games.

That being said Clemson isn't a one trick pony. We've won national titles in men's soccer twice and in men's golf. Our fledgling women's golf program is showing it has what it takes as well finishing in the Top 25 in it's first year. Our rowing team is one of the best in the ACC, and we have a world class track program.

Not good, but a big reason is we only sponsor the minimum required number of sports so all of our sports go toward our score.

We could add more sports, but because we "eat what we kill" and fund athletics with money raised from athletics we would be shortchanging someone else to add them.

People forget that we are the smallest public school in the ACC so we don't have the alumni base others have. We were a small military school until 1955 as well. In 1918 the entire senior class enlisted for WWI, and the Class of 1944 only had 13 graduates because of the number of students that had left school to enlist.

I know, I was a Berkeley Stag football player and track man at Moncks Corner in 1963-1964 in the 9th grade. We hated Summerville! I lived in the Goose Creek Naval Weapons Base housing. My dad was a submariner in the Navy stationed at the Goose Creek Naval Weapons Base

That's only undergrad enrollment. Clemson has fewer total students, around 1k less than GT and 3k less than UVA.

When it comes to affiliating with an alma mater for athletics, most people choose their undergraduate school, thus why that population figure bears more weight.

Haven't seen the stats lately but most of Clemson's grad students are Clemson undergrads.

We don't have med or law schools so we lose a few there. Otherwise it's easier to complete your degree where you are comfortable.

Maybe those kids & HS coaches in SC better look at this list & see who gives them a better chance at making it into the NFL. Louisville did this without the ACC brand.

They probably will.

But then they'll also look and see that Louisville took all that NFL level talent and still finished 3rd in their division and got beat by 23 in their bowl game.

Not to mention they'll also look and see that Petrino has no morals.

Does anyone have the tail end of this video? Where it cut off?

To the point of the original story of this topic .... it was front page on the sports section in the Herald Journal today. A local writer torched Petrino and Louisville. I suspect this will hurt them in the all the major 4A power areas of SC (Charlotte suburbs, Greenville-Spartanburg, Columbia, Charleston, Myrtle).

Far be it for me to defend kaplony .... but the Clemson baseball team is legit. Until the post-season. Something I can empathize greatly with. And yes, baseball matters. Amongst the doesn't matter sports, their men's golf and soccer teams are typically pretty good too.
