This is what things have come to. We are now celebrating not being blown out. At home.

Well, if we are doing the positive thing then the game today was still a better love story than Twilight.

RE: Thinking positive
Obviously, Pastner's fate will not be decided until the season is completed. A loss is a loss, no matter how you cut it.
Nichols injury is somewhat of a wildcard in the evaluation. I think most will agree if he doesn't go down, the TIGERS win today. And I honestly thought it was his knee; his right leg buckled underneath him.
We'll see as the next few weeks unfold without the best player on the team available. If the team totally collapses and finishes 16-16 (1st round loss in AAC tournament), the big boosters might buy out his contract regardless and seek a new coach. But with each close loss that AN doesn't play in, they have to think about what difference might his presence made? Is it enough to give Pastner year 7 at the helm?
Time will tell.

It was a 4 point game when AN went out...I don't think we can assume the Tigers win if he doesn't get hurt. We had already blown most of our 16 point lead by that time and momentum had already shifted in Temple's favor.

I dunno, the whole werewolf/vampire thing is kind of exciting...you know...for a girl...in her teens...or a girl in her late 20s/early 30s who dtill isn't over Nsync...

Memphis already lost almost all of their 16 pt lead before his injury..(lead was whittled down to just 4) Tigers were reeling...so you can't assume Memphis would have won even if he didn't get hurt.

Given that we were still up 4 at the time & ended up losing by 1 on a last-second shot, I'm going to say that we PROBABLY would have won with Austin. Of course, we will NEVER really know.

RE: Thinking positive
The positive I took from the game was that a pretty lethargic crowd watching a 15-point blowout in the first half suddenly became a lot more energetic when Austin went down. Until that bank shot with 2 seconds left that sunk us, the crowd was into it.
And, with Nichols going off in the first half for 15 points, no fouls, and I don't know how many blocked shots, the coaching looked pretty good. Can't explain what could possibly have occurred over the next ten minutes that undid all of that. It's baffling to me.

I thought this was supposed to be a positive thread.
What a disappointment.
You guys are more boringly repetitious than a Josh Pastner press conference.

RE: Thinking positive
We get it.
Memphis up sixteen.
Temple closes to a tie.
Memphis regains the lead...up four..and really up six with free throws.
Memphis best player and defender and one of the nations best shot blockers goes down.
Temple then goes on 8-0 run, attacking the missing shot blocker to the rim.
It mattered.
And yes, still could have won...still could have players better and not allowed 8-0 run. No question about that. Zero question.
But the idea that a last second game was not affected...and that Memphis with the momentum of going back up by six would not have overwhelmingly led to a win is a bit of a stretch.
But understandable.

RE: Thinking positive
The "loss of the shot blocker" narrative wouldn't matter if we had guys who could stop penetration on the perimeter.
The only positive I can see is that every loss is 1 game closer to a new coach.
