As today is Football signing day, this seems appropriate:

Jerry Clower tells story about playing College Football

thought you'd like that one, SF.

where the heck are the rest of the posters for this thread? Few people like to laugh? Or do only we know all the funny routines out there? That can't be true. So join in (or I'll have to start another "phallic" thread in honor of Nugget49's request.)

I like some of the old routines:

here's Andy Griffith Football Story from 1953

Doug Stanhope:

this is NSFW and in reality Doug Stanhope is NSFL. You can't unhear what this guy says. He's pretty raw. This bit is on Popov Vodka. Actually some of his lighter fare. Definite vulgar language but he always is.

Interesting story about Hicks, to me anyway. When I was first starting out in comedy I was doing the opening spot at a club in Columbia, SC and the other 2 comics were talking about what a shame it was that he had passed away and what a genius he was.

I had actually never heard of him so I googled him when I got back to my room. There was a Wiki type site that told about his life and where he was buried. It said he was buried in Leakesville, MS which is as rural as it gets in south Mississippi which I thought was odd.

On my way to Mobile one day I turned off Hwy 98 and went about 20 miles out of my way to see if I could find the cemetary. The town had no redlights and only one fast food place and I went in and got directions. It was one of those old cementery's at the end of a country road outside of town.

I walked around looking for graves with flowers because it hadn't been that long since he had passed. I finally found a grave with some dying flowers that said " In loving memory of our beloved uncle and brother William "Bill" Hicks. I think he was from Houston so I guess the only family he had was from Mississippi. It was just surreal seeing the grave of somebody that had performed and was well known all over the US and and several other countries stuck out in the middle of nowhere.

there is another video about his life that was made postmortem.....it's a good watch....

he didn't go andy kaufman with the knowledge of knowing he was going to die.....regardless, it's pretty sad to lose out on life as early as he did....

if I remember correctly, the family is from mississippi, moved to texas, and now the parents are in arkansas......both parents were god fearing folk.....

I am very much like bill hicks and how he viewed the world.....he was one of my favorites....

to dahbeed.....the following is from the other "drunk" that stanhope referenced....a few of my favorites....

nsfw language

the last one is from "drunk in public" and perfectly describes the programmer I once fed info to during my corporate america years.....we were on our way back from PDX and made our last connect in memphis (was the last time I took that path).....anyway, we had to fly around a storm, then head 20 miles into the gulf, and finally u-turn back to gulfport.....

I know he shite his pants during that bumpy puddle jump ride.....hell, the plane free fell about a hundred ft or so at one time....almost everybody screamed....I raised my arms in the air.....

I just told him the mormons would take care of it we died (he is mormon)....one of my more fun times as an atheist whilst being smashed....if I wouldn't have been, I probably would have too....he had big grin on his face....if fit that monster head and nose perfectly.....don't think I ever saw him smile again after that trip....but he did all the way driving my drunk ass to the house....

stinkfist....not to offend but i've never really cared for ron white. just didn't like him.

i don't have him in the same bucket as larry the cable moron but no appeal.

when i watch or listen to doug stanhope my first thought is someone is going to hell for this. i don't know if it's me or him but someone is. he really, really nails a lot of subjects. and i've yet to see a line he won't cross.

one of my favorite pandora stations is my 'doug stanhope' station. when i'm not in the mood for music i'll select that one on pandora. you get plenty of others besides doug and most of them are very funny.

no offense taken.....as an atheist, I don't worry about heaven or hell....and rw is light years ahead of the other two....the other two are dumbed down versions of grand ole opry clower #somethinorother

and btw, I get your 'why' about ron.....I only posted it b/c stanhope referenced him in your posted vid.....'only two drunks left on stage' (something like that)

I'm pretty certain you and me enjoy relative par regarding humor and perception.....

kudos and 04-cheers
