A 2016 player we are actually recruiting
Anyone have inside info on this guy's recruitment? He looks like a stud. Hope we can snatch him from the Vols. You can't underestimate things like Top 25 appearances and NCAA tournament runs when selling the program to 4 stars.
Jackson is from Texas and attends JuCo in New Mexico. Hard for me to believe not a single program in those 2 states are recruiting him. I have no inside info but he seems to be the kind of talent that can wait to make a decision meaning plenty of additional names can be thrown into the proverbial hat.
Thank Matt Hatfield, who tweeted yesterday the tidbit that he is one of six D1 players to lead his team in points, rebounds assists, and steals and inspired me to ask the question if we'd have interest if he still wanted to come here.
Sorry, the intent really was not to start a pissing match.
This will be unpopular, I am sure, but I have unapproved messages related to how this 2016 Recruiting thread got off track. The individual mentioned is not a 2016 recruit, and discussion is polarized and bordering on insults. We are better than this.
Cam Bacote '17 was having an off night, till the end. He scored 6 of his 18pts in the final 13 second. Hitting the game winning straight away 3 with 1.3 sec left to beat K-Tan.
Also the staff was at the Norfolk Collegiate game watching K. Chavis, 6-6, SG, 2016, 185, he dropped 18pts.
I've seen the guard we are/were looking at from Walsingham Academy. Don't remember his name. I believe he is a left hander. Anyway, I was pretty impressed watching him play. Very smooth handling the ball, crafty and slick in getting his shot off. Didn't force things, and showed a good outside shot. I'm guessing he was around 6'-2" (maybe more).

Richard Washington, 6-5, 2016. Kid looks pretty good. I know we need bigs in the next 2 recruiting classes but I'd take Washington in a heartbeat.
Wow I went to Hampton Roads Academy ('97) and we used to beat the crap out of them with a bunch of rich white boys that never would have dreamed of playing D1. Then again, same could have been said of Norfolk Collegiate. When did these schools start recruiting?
Walsingham is coached now by Billy Barnes former W&M player from the early 80s. I don't know if he recruits but they are very well coached. I know Richard Washington transferred there from Menchville HS. And yes I would take him in a heartbeat even more so than the 6-6 kid at Williamsburg Christian. However, they are two different types of players. All I know is that he could develop some DEEP range in college if he continues working (he has smooth stroke shooting the 3 from the 3 point line now) AND, at least when I saw him, can drive to the basket as a scorer as well. Underrated or not talked about much as he should be in my opinion. Someone will say he's only being recruited by MAAC schools or something but I personally think he is and/or is going to be a lot better than that. (Of course, there is always the defensive side of things and intangibles that I may be overlooking, but offensively yup)

Obviously they are recruiting. I wonder how he got someone from the stacked public district in NN to transfer to where he will get such little exposure at Walsingham? Menchville isn't even a bad school, kind of our Maury.

I don't pay much attention to high school basketball (other then via these recruiting threads), but I would venture to say that Norfolk Collegiate became relevant right around the time it picked up a tough, young Lithuanian named Valdus Vasylius.

I believe he reclassified as well..... can't do that in a public school. A read an article in the VP that the TCIS is trying to get a grip on all of this reclassifying that is going on... i.e. trying to limit it... but they will go elsewhere. In Washington's case, Williamsburg was still close enough to Newport News for his parents... Again read that somewhere too...
