The future is definitely still out there...waiting to happen.
I'm holding it open. For one thing, it's more fun that way. 02-13-banana

Fans giving up and not renewing their season tickets is a legitimate concern. It's one of the strongest arguments against Pastner. That's both support and revenue loss. Anyone in sales will tell you it's easier to keep a customer or client than finding a new one. You always want to keep your "churn rate" low.

Yup. It is the strongest argument for the number crunchers and the check signers...or in other words the ones who make BIG decisions.

lol. But some of us 'lowly' fan types are having issues with just the sheer number of horrific beatdowns in a short span of time...with the potential for more on the horizon.

Total BS.
And you said Calkins is irrelevant? There is some serious irony there.

Calkins, like him or not, is not irrelevant. Some guy on a message board saying he's irrelevant is where the irony lies.

What I find ironic is when people find Calkins, or Wolkin or, or Parrish, or whoever relevant when their tweets agree with their agenda, but then call them irrelevant clowns looking for hits when they say something they disagree with.

I happen to think that anything they say is largely irrelevant, so there is no dichotomy.

I certainly don't agree with everything they say, especially from an opinion columnist like Calkins. However, I do think they have a little more inside information than most of us because it's their business to have inside information. They actually know some of the parties they refer to in those articles. Sometimes I agree with those assessments and sometimes not.
To use your own argument, you don't agree with Calkins on this subject so you say he's irrelevant.

He is right u know. R u related to pastner or something? U always got some smart aleck comment when people point out the obvious. This program is headed for disaster and if u don't see it then I dunno what to tell you. Those of us who care can see it. U must not understand basketball at all to watch our games and think this is acceptable. Pretty soon we will b playing our home games at white station and not even fill that up. There is a problem but people of your ilk are for some reason ok with that because josh sent your mom flowers on her birthday. He is paid to develop players and win basketball games. Also to sell the program and bring excitement to the program there is not a damn thing exciting about what's going on and the direction we are headed but u and the kool aid kids are oblivious to that fact.

That is not what I said. I simply said that I find find that much of what they say is irrelevant.
Your mileage may vary, but I do not consider them knowledgeable insiders.
In fact, I see them as self promoting gossip hounds.
Do I read them? Yes.
Do I believe everything anything they say? No.

yep, everyday they just holler and the normal chorus chimes in.

i would never know what any of them ever said if their opinions weren't proselytized here (complete with links and summaries) on a daily basis. if i realy cared i would subscribe or listen. rarely do i consider their opinions anything but springer sensationalism to sell their product to the lowest common denominator. occasionally they stumble into an original thought or provide new information. i dont need their musings. filtering legitimate news becomes increasingly difficult as time passes while they consider themselves artisans of commentary wit.

it does trouble me that they have so many that hang on their every word or observation because ultimately they dont give two shites about the university. i guess it will never change doe, snicker.

"We’re not relevant,” he said. “We don’t even compete in a lot of big games. And Josh (Pastner), I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but he talks to us like we’re idiots, like we don’t know basketball.”

"... is it unreasonable for Memphis fans to think the program should be able to get to a Sweet 16 in six years under a head coach? Is it unreasonable for Memphis fans to think something is wrong with a program that routinely gets smashed by double digits on national TV?"

^^^^Truth. For those blind to what Calkins says, and fail to see what's going on, check out the dwindling attendance at each game. Attendance (butts in seats) against ECU (yes I'll be there) will be proof again of the apathy that's setting in with Tiger fans. Time for a change.

:hissyfit Here is a thought. Why don't the posters that like Geoff and others just keep reading their articles and those that do not like them just refrain from reading them. It is kind of like trying to convince someone to change their thought process in religion or politics. It just AIN'T going to happen.

Tell me one thing in that article that's not true. Things keep going the way they are under Pastner, you and about 500 others will be the only one's in FEF if a change isn't made. Irrelevant ? Really ? Pay attention my Tiger friend.

The problem is Bowen is between a rock and a hard place. You better have that home run hire signed up BEFORE you let go of Josh and have the Lawson's locked in. Otherwise, you are better off keeping Josh and I think we would have fighting chance of S16 run with key players staying and the Lawson's coming in.

You would probably lose only one year of Donor revenue under that scenario.

Sweet 16 or simply stay on the floor with anyone good next season? The lawson's are good but they are not leading this group of players to a Sweet 16
