RE: Questions for Mick?
Coach,

First of all, get well soon!!!! We like Coach Davis a lot and am glad he is on the sideline leading our Cats but obviously you are the face of UC basketball and we need ya!

Question: Offense...what is the plan? This team seems to struggle annually with offense and this year is no different. Without a go to guy like SK it's even more glaring. What is the issue exactly? Guys not executing the plan? We don't have guys that are a good fit for this offense? We don't spend enough time teaching offense? Any light you could shed on offense in general and what our problem is would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Questions for Mick?
Is anyone working with Ellis specifically concerning his attitude on the court?

RE: Questions for Mick?
I like Quadri Moore's game, but he seems very tentative and slow to react when he's on the court. Does he just need more reps, more
coaching or what u see is what u get?

RE: Questions for Mick?
How come we can't consistently get top 50 or top 100 recruits on a regular basis ? Hope to see you coach again soon. Hit them straight and staying away from BC might also help you heal sooner.

Ps, get well soon, broski.

So I'm going to go out on a limb and say this one won't get read to Coach Cronin.

I'm thinking asking about why we don't get certain recruits and whether specific players' bad attitudes are being addressed won't make the cut either.

RE: Questions for Mick?
Being awfully dramatic over a message board post, aren't we?

Anyway, my question would be, are you still actively involved in recruiting the 2016 class, given the inability to travel/fly; or has that been mostly delegated to your assistants?

RE: Questions for Mick?
These are all good questions.
Would be nice to have them answered instead of ignored.
My question would be when do the excuses stop

RE: Questions for Mick?
Has there been any consideration of playing a 3 guard lineup of Troy, Cobb, and KJ together to get spacing that Shaq and Morman don't offer while also having more attacking ability off the dribble than Sanders offers?

Given how much Quadri struggles on defense as a freshman, any thought of giving more minutes to Shaq as an undersized 4 kinda like Parker used to often play? His lack of shooting becomes much less of an issue at the 4.

This is a great question 04-bow and it seems like Larry/Mick are already heading in that direction, in terms of Shaq at the 4.

As far as Troy/KJ/Cobb, I think Larry did a similar thing by starting Sanders over Shaq. Obviously Sanders is a bit short in the attack part of the equation, but he is a good enough outside shooter, that the spacing would happen.

My question is simply: Coach Cronin, how is your health?

RE: Questions for Mick?
Coach, Gary Clark looks to be one of the most skilled big men we've ever had. In the Temple game, it seemed like he got more touches outside the post than usual. Is there a concentrated effort to get him more involved in the flow of the offense and take advantage of his passing ability?

RE: Questions for Mick?
Question: Coach, I hope you continue to improve physically, and you are taking care of yourself. Some times God works in funny ways, and things like this can be a blessing in disguise. Perhaps you have had more time to spend with your daughter and you have had a chance to watch the team from a more objective/outsiders view.

I think you have done a great job of working with the guys you have had over the past 9 years. However, as you probably know, recruiting is truly the lifeline to winning. Has there been any in-roads with fertile recruiting grounds or contacts, that may bring in some higher level talent. Cincinnati is a top 10-15 program of all time, and many fans feel we should be capable of bringing top 20 type classes every year. Schools like Kentucky continue to pile on the McDonalds boys, and it is becoming harder and harder to compete.

Why have the big men struggled so much with their footwork this year resulting in a bunch of travels?

RE: Questions for Mick?
It would be cool to hear some detail about what he is or isn't involved with in terms of game-planning. More specifically, is Davis making up his own rotations?

The competition has been tough, but the road record isn't where anyone would want it to be right now. Is that just a product of losing a couple close games (especially Nebraska) or do you see that as an area of concern that you are addressing?
Additional opinion/comment, I'm concerned about that road situation because there are no easy road games and we have several road games left that would be considered bad losses and affect our March standing if we don't win them.

Another comment/question... Cronin has pointed out the increase in interest post-super bowl and the attendance numbers have supported that. The home crowds have impressed me this year, especially the Temple game. Does the team feel any additional energy EARLIER in the season this year? I sense the fans jumped on board early this season. Maybe it could be a byproduct of a more balanced OOC and conference schedule (less backloaded), but there could be other reasons.

RE: Questions for Mick?
So this thread got a little crazy. I appreciate all the input and questions and as pointed out, some might need to be re-worded or ignored, but others are great questions and one or two from this board are in the mailbag this week and others will be next week.

I encourage you to keep sending them in (here or via my twitter account) and I will present them to him every week as appropriate.

Mick and I both enjoy the mailbag, that's why we keep doing it.

Tommy, sorry. I contributed as well. I will split all the commentary from this thread, and leave the questions.

Man... some of these questions are worded with the finesse of a dump truck plowing through a shopping mall.

jar, for coach Cronin to buy players like Kentucky does would be illegal. He'll never resort to that level, as Calipari had done for years. I'm HOPING that coach Cronin would recruit better fundamental, basketball iq types of players soon before they become extinct at UC.
