Darrion Landry
6'2"
200 lbs.
Blinn College
Also held offers from Illinois, Kentucky, South Florida, Southern Miss, and 5 other schools.
Looks like he can really go up to get it.
Now, if he can just learn to go down low to get it.

We should move up with the addition of Landry, but man I really hope we have a better recruiting class than EMU.

Look at the player's offer sheet. I wouldn't go by most of the services.
The questions are did you get a quality player that fits your system, can make it academically, represent the University on and off the field?

well, that's a nice recruit. he really gets into his routes quick. great acceleration off the line. super ball skills. like how well he can highpoint the ball and go after it strong w 2 hands. i think he gives zo some competition which is good. might also take snaps at macon's old position.

Really put some pressure on the Defenses and help to open up the running game.

I just looked at the bio of JC widereceiver Landry and he is from Baytown texas. Not sure but I think that is where former Rocket Stephen Williams was from.

Not losing it yet....I thought we had a receiver in the past that was from Baytown...thought it was Stephen Williams but some geography wiz pointed out he was from HOUSTON. Researched Baytown ,Texas again and found out the receiver from Baytown was David Washington (2003-06)...attended Sterling HS. Not far from Houston!

Pretty good memory!
Well, I'm glad we got this guy because we really do need another WR. Not sure how any recent recent recruits are coming along, but we do need another one. Landry looks pretty sure-handed.
We could use a returner, too. The 2 we're using now are good in the offense, but just don't have the skill as returners, for example, as Reedy had.

Verbal commits Art Thompkins and Jessie Bates are both very good return guys.

Our top 3 WRs for next season: Russell, Jones, and Landry.
That seems like a good start.

We need Jessie's brother Norman. Kind of a momma's boy but he's got a nasty streak.

Not sure if you just had a stroke - or was just off to the right a little on the keyboard. I'll go with the latter - nasty streak? Bates? - I get it now....

That seems like a good start.
And, when we remember to use them, we also have a couple good TEs who have shown they can catch the ball. I like Landry's size-- hope he is also good at blocking on the corner/downfield...key job for receivers in this offense.

The bowl game film should serve as a good reminder to use TEs. Never understand the reluctance.

Yep, Toledo threw the ball to Zmolik in the New Hampshire game, then basically waited all season and threw the ball to him in the bowl game. Sat a few rows in front of the Zmolik's in Mobile, we all enjoyed the re-emergence of the tight end in the offense.

Who was the QB in the New Hampshire game? I think if Ely would have been healthy the tight ends would have gotten a lot more catches.

ely throws the best mid length routes. his strength early on was throwing to the middle of the field.
i've liked zmolik since his hs recruiting videos. the kid was our most efficient receiver last year, and i think can do it on a more regular basis. next year's team will have a slew of offensive weapons. the question is if the line will be ready. what, don't we have arkansas in week 2?
i was with you h2o
