Oh my gosh! He was asked if he regretted. He is sticking to his guns. He openly said that he is confident that an independent study is going to verify his decision to discontinue football.

Watts just said that the football decision was made "about two weeks before we made the announcement"

That's news to me. Has he ever acknowledged that before?

He said early on that he is a professional physician and he made the diagnosis as to the future of football. OH MY GOSH!

And he says off camera to Mayor Bell, "Thank you. We'll go forward."

The announcement that UAB football is coming back in 2016 will be "worse" than this (from his POV).

Well,,, I guess we have a glimmer of hope that there will be a reversal considering what transpired with the formation of a group that will choose an external , nationally recognized company to examine the Carr report and hopefully other available data, including the economic impact on the community, the alumni and other stakeholders'willingness to finacialy support UAB and its athletic programs

He's so bad. Every other person that took that podium today was a more competent public speaker.

Perhaps, we come through this STRONGER... Not because of watts, but DESPITE him. Perhaps this GALVANIZES the community, the alumni, the faculty, and the student body into reinstating and supporting the football team in a way we never could've imagined.
And best of ALL scenarios... This provides the impetus for either equal representation on the BoT or a separate BoT altogether...

No reason to put off no confidence vote because of this review process. He should be fired based on making such a huge mistake in the first place without knowing what he didn't know. Liar Liar Liar. #fireRayWatts. This changes nothing. Football team/patient continues to bleed to death while he drags out the process to save his sorry ass. Would a professional firm really need 90 days to perform an audit on these numbers? He could have put a temporary stay on his decision to eliminate football/rifle/bowling until the process was complete, but you know damn well Jr. would have none of that.
