RE: 11 killed at French satirical newspaper.
Some observations:

- The West, and EU in particular, are soft, welfare pampered, and unable to afford any long term serious military engagement

- The developments in the EU and Stockholm in particular have turned me off of open borders. I'm still for high amounts of legal immigration, but it must be those willing to assimilate.

- The Jesus Camp style response to this sort of thing is just as creepy.

- Other Muslims will need to spearhead any serious reform effort to the faith.

Maybe Howard Dean should spend a few Days touring Syria and Iraq villages in ISIS controlled areas.

Libs here and in Europe will tell us this is just an isolated incident and we are not at war with radical Islam.

After several thousand isolated incidents, I don't believe them anymore.

How can you redeem a philosophy that doesn't just excuse wanton murder in a case like this, but demands it. It's said that the difference between a cult and a religion is 100 years, but that doesn't apply when the cult-like aspects of the religion are so entrenched in its dogma.

Remember, it's Westerners that are full of hate, even though we don't ever seem to murder Muslims in the name of a cult or a religion.

You've got to get them divorced from the literal interpretation of their stupid little book. The Bible says you should stone to death disobedient children. Do Christians do it?

Islamic leaders in Paris have already condemned the attacks. But, let's not let that get in the way of bashing Islam or religious people in general.

When more 'commoners' started being able to read (and had access to their own Bibles), Christianity got liberal real quick. People could interpret for themselves what the Bible said and didn't rely on teachers as much. Look what Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai went through. An educated girl/person?!?! That's the scariest thing in the world to those in power.

Because of cartoons. The funny part about that is that the ones that result in murder are laughably tame compared to a modest sampling of middle-eastern cartoons, which can be extremely vitriolic.

And, yet, modernity and political freedom tend to radicalize the influence that Islam has.

Islamist leaders are the ones that stirred up riots in the Muslim world over the comics published by the newspaper staff that were subsequently murdered here. So, what are we to make of this except that there is some disagreement, yet Islam is what inspired the riots (that ironically resulted in the death of some rioters) and the murders. Most Muslims are good people (most that I know are extraordinarily good people), yet Islamic text and dogma directly inspires others to murder and perpetuate violence and war for dogmatic reasons.

Interesting.
