Hughes Probably Gone
CoachingSearch & Rivals reporting that Hank Hughes will join Mike Riley's staff at Nebraska. Obviously not confirmed, but being reported as if it is.

Should make many on here happy. I think much bigger risk is lack of continuity related to overall defensive scheme and strategy. Both of TT's first two seasons have shown "learning curve" type of results (Gran last year, Hughes this year). Would have been nice to go into next year with out having that additional element.

There should be 20 posters on this board ready to fill this vacancy. LOL. When a player misses a tackle next year folks will still blame him.

And Tuberville's string of getting a new defensive coordinator each year streak appears to be alive.

I would have rather kept Hughes than Gran.

Can we promote from within in order to keep continuity. Is Prunty up for the job?

RE: Hughes Probably Gone
As a very wise man in a text just stated to me, and I quote, "Don't let the door hitcha where the Good Lord, splitcha."

I don't know which is more remarkable. The fact that this is the guy TT actually hired; how awful he had this D performing a large chunk of the year; that he may have actually worked that performance for a raise elsewhere; or that TT is still king of running through DCs every January.

Comedy of errors.

Can't believe I am actually hoping we keep Hank Hughes. It's like Stockholm Syndrome.

Good riddance. I can't believe another team would actually want him, honestly.

Is Snyder available? I'd take him in a second. He was great at OSU.

Is he going to be their DC? I thought I saw somewhere that he'd be their DL coach...

RE: Hughes Probably Gone
Good Lord. Husker sites are saying he is being hired as a DL coach.

If so, either:

1. He actually got a raise to step down to a position coach; and/or

2. We hired a guy who had been demoted to DL coach 2x and cane here to be DC and has now demoted himself; and/or

2. It was a crappy hire like many of us said before they officially announced we hired him and they are now quietly cutting bait.
