RE: Who wins the NCAAF Playoff?
I think it might be a good thing if Ohio State wins the national title and the Big 10 regains some of its former swagger. Maybe, just maybe, some of the tens of millions of recent emigres from the Buckeye State and other parts of that region will get homesick and leave the South, thereby relieving us natives of a good bit of traffic congestion, overcrowding and Salt Life decals everywhere you look.

I too was glad to see the sec take a hit. I was also kinda tired of hearing about winston and fsu. they eked out too many wins to be one of the top 4 in my view. some people said they were just playing down to their competition and could always turn it up if need be...well they looked like crap. slow, weak arm tackling, confused...

Couldn't find the rolling eye smiley and my son was on the verge of stealing my tablet as I was searching, so glad someone was still able to see through that.
On that note, I know Coach Fran isn't a fan of playoff expansion. When asked about it on an episode of The Coach Fran Radio Show (the Thursday evening broadcasts at Bobcat Sports Nation Bar) he cited these very reasons for being against playoff expansion.

Playoff expansion is the only way a Sun Belt team will ever be included in the playoffs. As long as it is a 4 team playoff, we may see a team every 25 years be included...but probably not even that often.

It'll expand . .. Not sure how rapidly, or how many teams will eventually make up the playoff system, but based on yesterday's excitement, the complaints of teams left out, It'll grow. . . . Probably at gradual increments like the FCS playoffs did. Every other football classification is able to determine its champion on the field (playoff) don't see why the Big Boys can't. Ohhhh, hope you got your tablet back. . . .

RE: Who wins the NCAAF Playoff?
Once the contract runs out on this playoff system, I think it will expand to 8. Winners of the P5 conferences + 3 at-large spots. That would give G5 schools a better shot. But that's a far way off from happening.

Who wins the NCAAF Playoff?
The earliest it will expand is 2017. The playoff bowls will have all Ben rotated through after 2016. No way it happens before that. TV contracts can be renegotiated.

This sounds about right. It'll go to 8 and probably start being discussed next year when the talking heads wonder about TCU this season.
As far as Bowls go, the lower tier bowls will or won't survive a playoff system. If there are 16 teams in the playoffs and the Big 6 are involved in that, the other Bowls will have plenty of non-playoff schools to choose from. Remember that the majority of Bowls generate revenue for themselves and not conferences, teams, or the NCAA.

I hear ya, but with more than half of FBS going ( by definition some of the worst half of teams ), there's a large constituency of schools wanting a bowl game.
Bowl teams:
- get the exposure (recruiting and otherwise)
- get the extra practice
- keep the alumni happy
Unless and until the playoff includes the SB champion ( and maybe even if it does ) the Sun Belt probably benefits more from bowls than playoff.
As it stands from a money perspective, I think we (G5) are worse off this year than with the BCS trickle down.

Been here since 1975. I doubt a NC will move me back to the rustbelt.

SEC got seriously exposed. In the BCS system it was FSU vs Bama. NCAA doesn't recognize any of the BCS champs, which they shouldn't. SEC going to have to start winning it on the field and not the VA Lodge
