You're welcome! This time of year you can catch red fish, speckled trout, white trout and flounder. Plus the dreaded saltwater catfish. If you catch a catfish don't let the fins stick you. You can get pretty sick from them.
I'd bring your own gear as the poles on the dock are cane poles. Pliers, medium sized spinning reel with 15lb test line, medium sized egg sinker weights or casting sinkers and 2/0 circle hook. Leave about two feet of line between your weight and hook. Use frozen shrimp or squid. You should have success with this set up. If they aren't biting off the dock, walk to the other side of the property and fish near the rocks. Night time is really good around the property. Good luck!!
Great information! Thanks again MobileBama. Can't wait!

Dang, he did everything but catch them for you, PTL.
The problem goes even deeper for bowl games. When you look at the cost of going to a game vs. watching it on TV, it becomes a no thought decision. Most people would rather go to a vacation destination vs. flying to a cold destination to watch a football game. So unless the game is in a place where going outside to enjoy the weather and being able to watch the game in shorts and a t-shirt is available, most fans just will not ante up the money to go somewhere for 3-4 days at a cost of about $1,500 each to watch a football game around the holidays in cold weather. Add in that games are scheduled during work days for most people, and you are also taking vacation days on top of it.
Unless you have a pretty good team that is in the top 25 and are playing a team that is also top 25 and from a P5 conference, it is pretty tough to justify spending the money that way - unless there is a lot of other things to do in the warm weather. I would have gone to Mobile if the game was on Friday night and I could at least get some golf in in weather that is high-60's or 70's. Last time I went, the golf was in about 45 degree weather and windy.
Hey Moto. Our family just got to Destin FL. Got a condo on the beach and it is a little cool but it is the BEACH. Mobile part of the trip is adding some cost but it is a great opportunity to watch the rockets play. One thing we did to save a little bit is buy end zone tickets direct from the bowl. Can't do it every year but the one thing about the MAC is that they have improved the locations of the bowls. Boca Raton would be nice some day

Supposed to be 70 or so on beach on Friday/Saturday Hope to run into some Toledo fans in Orange Beach. Buying tickets from the bowl doesn't help your team but they are cheaper. You will be able to move around to better seats. Especially after half. Safe travels to all
Looking at UT's websites at the tickets, it looks like 1,004 and have been sold through UT. If you go through the UT website and act like you're going to buy tickets, it gives me GA ticket # 1005 (UT is selling tickets as General Admission, and then assigning you a seat based on donations, season tickets, etc.). So to me that means 1,004 have been sold. Maybe I'm wrong, but that seems to make sense.
Edit: I attached a screenshot to show what I am talking about.

Figures that once I decide not to go, the weather everywhere has become unseasonably warm. Hopefully for those that have gone, it will stay that way for at least another week. I did enjoy the last trip to Mobile. I flew into Atlanta and drove down from there. Got up early the day after the game and drove back to Atlanta to catch my flight back and was home mid evening on the 23rd. - or maybe it was the 22nd - don't remember now.

LOL. That is for sure. I am officially rigged and ready. I will be putting this to the test pretty soon.
I am looking forward to seeing Rocket fans in Mobile. Go Rockets!
In Mobile. So far great. Ate lunch at a local Irish pub called Callaghans Irish Social Club. Loved the place. I had a Shrimp Po Boy. Excellent food and wide choice of alcohol. This pub is off the main grid , but minutes from middle of downtown. Small dumpy looking place. Awesome atmosphere. Met an Alabama fan and told him the best bowl was the Go Daddy Bowl. Did try to teach his young son OH-IO. HE was already brain washed with that Roll Tide crap.

Glad to hear it. If you're interested I'll treat you to BBQ at the Brick Pit or seafood at Wintzells tomorrow or Wednesday for lunch. Just let me know.
Also feel free to ask if you have any questions about your stay. Thanks for coming down. And Roll Tide!

I am still on the fence... Bahama Bowl? would have been there without a though... just checked round trip tickets to mobile... only $936 ... If I go I will drive, but every one I know who would go has to work... which is an oxymoron in this dumbocrap odummer economy
