Bad years happens. They really do happen, even to other teams from time to time. I know, I know...you don't believe it. But it does. If you follow the sport you will know this. If you just like to cry...you don't.
I wouldn't mind the bad years. Teams are always going to be rebuilding every now and them. And even when losing, there's some satisfaction watching young players learning the ropes, developing, and growing into their roles during the season.
But this rebuilding year doesn't show anything at all. What is the team actually learning to do? There's no evidence of the team running much in the way of organized defense or offense, or learning any sort of strategy--there's nothing there for them to learn it seems, unless they learn from the opposing team.
I'm beginning to think the guards the last couple of years were more likely than not the real coaches and teachers of the team, not Pastner.
This is the issue. Teams rebuild. Teams have years where they young and underdeveloped.
How can our ball handling be *this* bad? How can we continually not run a proper offense?
This isn't rebuilding - this is a common theme that has been hidden via athleticism and a few flashes through the past few years.
im going to need the beer guy in the stands to bring bourbons for a couple of years because there isn't an out at this point - the lawsons will again be that talent factor that hides the major deficiencies. Maybe pastner will lose his stubborn streak in a year but i am skeptical.
Before the CofP jumps on me again - I want the guy to do well but even those of you that would put ebay bids on pastner's used gym shorts should see that there is a problem.

What are we doing with this guy at the helms? Much MUCH better coaches have been fired for much less.
You must be 13 years old...or you can't remember anything from longer than 13 years ago...maybe both.

One thing that can't be argued is how incredibly soft we are. That's something that definitely won't sit well in a city like Memphis. It's been going since Pastner got here.

watching "The U: Part II" on ESPN. We need more Nevin Shapiros and less Josh Pastners involved in Tiger basketball. Just be more careful

yea, we need another Joey Dorsey 2.0 to walk thru those doors. Pastner needs to beg the Grizz Brass to come in and talk some heart and grit-n-grind into these Tigers. Hell, Pastner can learn a hell of a lot as well. This is a sad state of the program at the moment.

This is what happens when you take a guy from the mail room and put him in the corner office. The organization will continue on for a while but the lessons he NEVER LEARNED because he didn't have to climb the ladder are showing up BIG TIME.

Its like a hurricane or tornado. Just batten down the hatches and ride it out. Pastner will be gone sooner or later. The only question now is how long do Bowen and the boosters want to keep paying him.

"... Oh, and Calvin Godfrey yelled at the coaching staff after he was pulled after just 33 seconds of play, and then had to be ordered to join the huddle during an ensuing timeout."
... just now from the CA, Calkins.

He was pulled coz of a bad shot he took. Pastner is Cal-opposite; you miss a shot, you are out. You suck on defense...no worries, you can play a bit longer.
The kids don't get time to settle in. Our first sub was after 2min 15s...what the heck is that? Players need time to settle in and get into a rhythm. Ride the starting lineup out for at least 4-5 mins of gametime. Don't pull a guy that just came off the bench after 33s. There's no patience being shown by the coaching staff with the new group of players we have. If they shoot well, they can play. Nothing else seems to matter.

I've said it before many times ...hard work counts for a lot, but there is no substitute for experience.
