Only made it to 2 Belt road games this year:

GaSo- I've made the trip to Statesboro many times and always enjoy the trip. Eagle fans are loud, boastfull, and a little irritating at times.....much like many App fans. We had a great time tailgating and had many good conversations with the passing Eagle fans. The game sucked this year but other than that no issues. Excellent crowd for a week night game, although no where near as many App fans as there would be for a Saturday game.

Troy- My first visit to Troy since the FCS Playoff game many moons ago. We were able to park very close to the stadium at a church school lot and tailgate (no way you park that close at App without a big Yosef donation). We had good conversations with the surrounding fans. At the time of the game both Troy and App had terrible records so much of the talk was that at least "someone had to win". Three App buddies and I were gifted tickets by a Troy alum as we were walking to the ticket window, a very generous gesture to visiting fans. It was a hot day and the $5 beers in the stadium were much appreciated. The stadium was more than half empty but is a nice venue. We were able to sit directly behind the App players benches and had a blast. Hopefully on my next trip both teams will have better records and there will be more fans and excitement in the stadium. Also, very easy to get back to the highway to Atlanta.

I am hoping that in the next few years the Georgia Southern @ Texas State game will align with either the US Grand Prix at COTA, or the World Endurance Championship round at COTA.

I would love to see an Eagle Win on Saturday and a proper motor race on Sunday. and at a phenomenal venue like Circuit of the Americas no less.

Although It would not surprise me if the schedules were setup to keep that from happening.

YES! That's my dream trip too. Our game and the F1 race were only a week apart this year. If they coincide one year I'm going, no ifs, ands, or buts. I'm a big F1 fan.

State fans are breed of their own. They have to live in the shadow of UNC, so anyone that they think they are better than, they will let you know about it and treat you equal to their perception

State fans are the most down to earth in the ACC.

NC State fans are by far the worst I have ever dealt with. That includes OOC trips to LSU, Florida, Georgia, VT, & Michigan over the past few years.

Lots of other great places to eat in and around Lafayette. Just go on Ragin Pagin before you make the trip, and you will get an extensive list.

I really look forward to traveling to USA / Mobile next year as I love the area and spent a lot of time there during the start-up of TK Steel. There is a group of us that make one long weekend football trip every year where we can play golf, fish (if available) and enjoy local dining. During the SoCon days, The Citadel in Charleston was the best road trip. I expect USA and ULL to be two of the best for our interests. I just hope they're scheduled later in the year as September games in AL and AR can be too damn hot.

Just a note to those planning on traveling to GaSo/Statesboro; you can plan a great long weekend at Hilton Head Island, SC or Savannah, GA. Both are within 90 minutes of Statesboro and have a combination of great golf, dining, fishing, historic sights and beaches.

BG is a lot easier to drive to and we have Nashville with in a very short drive and Jonesboro has Memphis. It just not a fun trip to make or get to. I did enjoy seeing the boyhood home of Johnny Cash. I happen to like Memphis so that helped if we drove south first or went 80 miles out of our way going home...which we did one trip. As far a Bowling Green I've said it a number of times...stay in Nashville and drive up on game day..3 hours should be enough to see and do

I love western Kentucky! Corvettes, Paducah, Land between the Lakes, etc. That being said, I am white trash.

Only away game we went to this year was Tulsa.

Not a terrible drive from Austin, stayed with a friend in Dallas on Friday night. Their tailgating area was a really nice manicured lawn, but there was only about a hundred people out there. They put the TXST tailgate on the other side of the stadium. Thought they should have combined the two. Stadium was nice but not very big. Exciting OT game. Went out in Tulsa after the game. Stayed downtown. Good experience.

We are planning to go to more games next year (UH, FSU, ULL, and state). Had plenty of days off this year but couldn't afford to go to many games...next year I will definitely be able to afford to go but might not get the days off...life happens.

I was not impressed. The first thing I was greeted with upon coming into town was a truck stop, a Bobcat dealer, and a liquor store. Also the miles of farms around didn't inspire a very cosmopolitan atmosphere either.

If Nashville is a very short drive then Statesboro might as well call itself Savannah and ya'll can stop complaining about it.

I'm going there and going deep sea fishing. So I don't have a clue what you're talking about. I'm probably the only person that loves the Troy trip...

not for Troy but the beaches 2 hours away. Hell we have a game at Ole Miss a week from Saturday... and our only game between then is this Saturday. I'm leaving on Sunday heading to the Gulf, going fishing for 5 days before heading back home and a stop at Ole Miss.

As you can see if a place has good fishing I'm going to enjoy the trip or anything historical..but I love local history so basically any trip we take I'm going to find something I enjoy. A trip to Statesboro would be kind of ideal to me...with history and fishing all around with in a few hours drive

More like 45 minutes for excellent fishing and a touch more than an hour and your on Tybee Island beach.

I made three away games for Southern this year!

GA Tech. Great game day atmosphere around campus enjoyed being back in midtown Atl. Can't wait to go back in 2016.

Ga State I use to live in Atl and had season tickets to the Falcons. Not a big fan of the dome. Enjoyed the cold beer just didn't have that college feel to it around the stadium or in the game.

Last trip was to Annapolis for Navy game. Oh my what a great trip. Enjoyed the food and the architecture of the downtown. Took my son and nephews we had a ball. Enjoyed going to the campus and thought the game day atmosphere was unique. If you have a chance to play against them I suggest you make that trip.

I am looking forward to traveling to a lot of our away conference games in the coming years. I love Gulf Shores area so I can't wait to play USA again down there.


As many have said before me Statesboro doesn't have a lot to offer as far as the city itself and I hope that will change with improvements downtown. We make up for it with a beautiful campus and one of the best tailgate scenes you will find in football! Can't wait to host some of the schools we have coming our way next year.
