False comparison. You guys did a wonderful job this year and earned a conference title. According to the rules you signed up for though, you did not earn the right to play in a bowl game. And it appears that rule became an issue only when you saw it was not benefiting your program.

Can you not understand why others who have played by that rule don't agree with you at this point?

Waivers are granted or denied all the time. If you all will just be quiet until this process is over with, we wouldn't have 37 pages of nonsense.

nonsense is what they want, nonsense is what I'm giving them

We have as much right to express an opinion on the issue as you do to ask for the waiver.

If your school's administration didn't attempt to get the rules changed two weeks before the first bowl game, then this thread wouldn't even exist.

Asking for a waiver is well within the rules. Try again.

And if that fails, you have a right to take it to court, no? Where will it end?

If only I were a lawyer. As stated numerous times, this is the last appeal and it will be over once the NCAA finally gets around to doing something.

We don't fault Georgia Southern fans for being fans, but we do fault people for stirring the pot, both Georgia Southern and non Georgia Southern fans.

95 percent of this thread began because we had a poster make a comment that was intentionally designed to rile someone else up. We're not going to be able to tolerate that much more if this is the end result.

If only I were a lawyer.

That's my point.

I realize you guys are only fans, but some of the rest of us are looking around and saying, WTF?.....does everything have to meet with this university's approval? How far is the administration willing to go at this point?

I honestly don't know.

A rough timeline of my readings on this board in terms of sentiments towards GS...

Spring '13: Welcome aboard. You guys deserve to be in FBS, but we aren't going to take it easy on you and you're going to get beat up a bit.

Spring '14: You guys went 7-4 in FCS. You beat Florida, but UF was hurt and awful and it's just a one-off. Georgia Southern isn't going to keep up with a full FBS schedule.

Summer: Some prognosticators and some GS posters are expecting the Eagles to compete for the conference title. LOL. You guys sure are funny. You're going to take some beatings.

September: Way to represent for the Sun Belt. But come on. Don't think that close calls with Georgia Tech and N.C. State mean that you're going to keep it up all season.

Early October: Impressive, Eagles. But, uh, you don't play ULL or stAte, so you guys are getting off easy. Not that it matters. You have tougher games at the end when you'll be worn down.

Late October: Nothing GS has done is all that impressive because the Eagles don't play ULL or stAte.

Early November: ASTERISK!!! ASTERISK!!! ASTERISK!!! ASTERISK!!! OMFG ASTERISK!!! GS is going to get a conference co-championship without playing anyone.

After ULL loss: Ummmm... GS didn't beat Texas State by that much, so... uh... They aren't that good.

Last weekend: Actively rooting against GS. Also, App would now trainwreck the Eagles.

Last 36 hours: Georgia Southern is holding up bowl invites because they are stupid and petty and just generally big, mean jerks about everything.

Two days from now*: Georgia Southern fans just told my kids that Santa isn't real

* - educated hypothesis

.... So yeah. I'm kind of done trying to play nice. I'm not going out of my way to incite this board, but it's getting to be a little stupid when I've seen so many hurdles and asterisks and caveats thrown onto GS as time has dragged on and some people want to dog Eagle fans for celebrating when all of those things are overcome.

I'll state it again. I don't have my heart set on a bowl game and wouldn't think any more or less of GS no matter if they get a bowl or not.

Georgia Southern is in ridiculously limited company in terms of what it has achieved in terms of being a first-year FBS team. I think it would be cool to embrace that story and let it run into bowl season, but I'm not going to cry about it if this final appeal is denied.

I can see where fans of S. Alabama or TXST have a vested interest in GS not going bowling since it could bump them, but my opinion is that anyone else actively rooting against GS getting into the postseason is just mounting one final campaign against the Eagles where all others have failed this season.

So... To summarize. Yeah. I'll be the first to shake your hand if/when you beat GS, but until then the Eagles are your champions and have no time for your pettiness and rationalization of Georgia Southern's awesomeness.**

It'd be a great case study for a graduate school.
