if UL were in the same spot, wouldn't you want your AD fighting to get your team into a bowl game?

Are we certain how much of this is actually "fighting to get into a bowl"?

Or, given the odds,
is it really just a ceremonial gesture made for the Eagle faithful?

either way, would you want your AD doing the same thing given you were in the exact situation?

Look this is a different situation, but Scott Farmer (GaSo Alumn) was the head of the softball selection committee one year and the Cajuns were 54-6 or something like that and had the #1 OOC strength of schedule, the #1 OOC RPI and 4th in total RPI and we were seeded 16th. So no we do not expect our AD to fight for anything in order to help our program.
If you knew Scott Farmer, you know he did.

He knows him.....so do I

Can we send him back to Southern?03-puke

It's a waste of effort that is costing fan bases valuable ticket selling time.

When do you guys tickets go on sale? Do you plan to buy them through the school or the bowl website?

Through the school. The tickets through the bowl are cheaper, but it does not count towards our numbers.

If your money is more important to you than it is to your school...

stub hub will be your best bet for tickets

another thing to remember in most cases when you buy through your school there is a pecking order usually on where your level of giving/donation is.

That's not the case on Stubhub...not only will you get your tickets about 50% below cost you can pick your seat

Just FYI, I asked someone inside the App program and they said there is no timetable for the decision on their bowl waiver, but it will be this week. It's a completely separate waiver than GaSo's.

That is the difference between being a fan of a team and supporting a school's athletic program. If I am going to spend a thousand on gas, food, hotels, entertainment, merchandise, etc. I am going to spring an extra 50 to 100 for tickets through the school.

I can't speak for anyone else, but knowing our school, we will start selling like at least 72 hours before the bowl.

That's how we are... we wait until the last minute.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but wasn't WKUYG the same guy berating others if their university gave away tickets to youth groups etc, ie harming the university's bottom line? If so, seems kinda hypocritical that he'd turn around a shaft his university because he can get discounted tickets elsewhere.

Just sayin'.

So App. still hasn't heard if their initial request for a waiver has been decided?

This process is going to kill ticket sales for the bowl games, but maybe that is what they want. If we're going to be in a bowl game in 19 days, then I need to know now so I can schedule off from work. The school that gets GoDaddy is lucky, because they'll have a full month to sell tickets even if we don't find out who goes where until this weekend.

So am I but not everyone can afford that extra $100-$200 (2-4 tickets) just so the school gets 2 more tickets counted to the total sold. But to be honest the school could probably benefit more from a direct donation of $100-$200. Why? because the conference is going to pick up the tab for unsold tickets.

In this day and age of BCS programs fan buying through stubhub instead of the school... bowls tend to look at the number of fans in the school color that attends the actual game.

I get freebies/passes to most road games I attend through Western so I'm going to get good seats by buying through the school...

that's not the case for 75% of fans buying bowl tickets through their school. If we are being honest most of our schools don't give a crap about you other than the money. So why should the family of 4 that wants to attend a bowl game spend $200 more to do so just to give the school 4 more numbers? Then most likely give them a ticket in the corner of the endzone.

There are 8 Schools to blame other than Georgia Southern:
USA
App State
NMSU
Idaho
Georgia State
Troy
Texas State
ULM

If you are ANGRY at Georgia Southern and our fan base please direct your negative energy to the teams listed above. They only had one job & they all failed!

Thanks,

Management

One job? Weren't there something like 12 jobs for each team? Then again, I guess I could be mistaken. I've never been at the center of the universe.

You better get used to this, in a year where our champion is eligible for the Access Bowl slot, we'll have to wait until the 7th or whatever Sunday that weekend falls on to announce our bowl slots.
