(12-01-2014 03:49 PM)RedWolfington Wrote:  See that's my point. No waiver or any of that crap. You should want a thought out rule change or nothing. It's the appeals process and waivers that create this situation of bowl eligible teams having to wait to make plans for travel and accommodation, or to even know if they need to or not.

So for you saying you wouldn't mind if people piggy back off of your lead, that's what I have a problem with. If you think the rule is unfair, you should want if changed. Not for future teams to have to go through this process you're going through and potentially hold YOU up on a bowl invite. Or hell.. Maybe that's what you need. It seems so difficult for some of you to see why this is annoying.

For the record, I've already got a few GSU fans in mind on here that seem rational. I'm going to let some time pass before I become comfortable that the rationality isn't just a passing phase, or just an individual instance.

If we think rationally here this could be our only shot at a bowl game in 50 years. See, some of us are coming along.04-cheers

are you kidding me SBC? NO and Camellia have their games in 3 weeks!

Lame - great to have Ga Southern aboard.

I am fortunate enough to have booked my hotel room and sent in my NO Bowl order form already. We know we are going to play a MWC team in the NO Bowl.

All Georgia South and Krazy Karl are doing is hurting the attendance and plans for other deserving member schools. If this drags out beyond Thursday, then shame on Ga South and Kray Karl.

Very Mickey Mouse - ish, but par for the course for the SBC.

Nor is there anything Benson can do til it's decided. If you want to blame someone blame the NCAA for taking their damn time.

Goes without saying the NCAA is corrupt and incompetent, especially when dealing with G5 teams.

But the incompetence of the SBC and the exhaustive annoyance of Ga Southern can not be overstated.

Super embarrasing for the conference and doesn't create great relationships between the member schools, athletic depts, and fans.

if UL was in our shoes, would you want your AD to try and go down the same road to possibly get into a bowl game and increase exposure for your school?

There's not a school in the SBC that wouldn't be doing what GS is doing if in their shoes. If you were a fan of a school that didn't take every shot they had...

99.9% would be crying what a f'ing idiot you had for a AD

You would think fans would want the best and UNDEFEATED team in their conference playing for a bowl win.

I been thinking about this whole appeal and I can't think of a reason to get mad at GS over it. Now the rest of the conference ...that's different. All you had to do was thump them a couple of times and we wouldn't be talking about this at all. You let ULL and stAte down. Thanks a lot SBC! 01-lauramac2

Lol. No no no... You'll have plenty of chances. Especially with and admin as aggressive and faithful as yours. Maybe not next year, but this season should do you some good for recruiting and you can start to carve out your sustainable spot in the Sun Belt and FBS in general.

Not if we were transitional and 5 days before bids go out.

Be a considerate Athletic Dept and work with a competent conference commisioner and file it once you hit 7 wins.

Not so hard to be a good conference mate ... unless you live in the cray world of the good ole Fun Belt Conference.

It's embarrasing!

why apply when we are only at 7 wins? The main reason to apply was because of the extraordinary circumstance of us winning the conference. If not, then were are just like every marginal 6 win team in the country. That to me would be worse than waiting until after we won the conference.

The Big Sky, Southern, Southland, and OVC came to the NCAA and asked that it be made harder to move to FBS to discourage the departure of teams. The rule requiring a year wait was part of that package.

It's dumb but that's a bone thrown to FCS to keep harmony.

Would a school actually not move to FBS because they won't be eligible for a bowl in the second year? No, it would not even make the radar as a consideration for a FBS move. Therefore it is a stupid rule that does not serve its intended purpose and only punishes the student athletes for no reason.

I am for removing it this year, even if we don't get the waiver.

You know... as dramatic as all parties have made this out to be (the struggled of the oppressed Georgia Southern and the righteous indignation of those saying "don't change the rule midseason"), and now the "will it be today or will it be tonight? Maybe tomorrow!" antics surrounding this...

We need to make this a reality show.

Seems to be what he's saying. Most on here have said their administrations would do the same if they were in the same situation but because we are "annoying" as some have said, it's detrimental to the conference. I don't know about you guys but it sounds like you just hate us for being annoying. I don't mind being hated but don't expect any sympathy from us if we happen to knock one of you out.

I can understand what GS is doing...

with that, GS fans need to understand that the rest of us are on pins and needles waiting for bowl announcements. Anything delaying that is going to be frustrating as hell for us.
