I could be wrong, but the rule wasn't changed for UNT, it was changed for the NOLA bowl. The Sun Belt was contractually obligated to deliver the conference champion to the NOLA bowl.

That contract was terminated in like 2010.

So, there's no reason to change the rule for the NOLA bowl, particularly when they have already selected their team from the Sun Belt.

We can't watch an SEC game without hearing about the cradle of Coaches in Jonesboro, AR

If only we had a deep-pocketed booster looking to waste some cash (and if it wasn't totally illegal), I'd love to see the Eagles show up at the NO Bowl in the stands with uniforms, rings, and Sun Belt Champion banner in tow... you know... just to celebrate the holiday and take in a game.

Yes, the literal NO Bowl Contract promised the "champion" Had anyone else represented, we would have been in breach of contract.

It's still an entirely different scenario. In 2001, the SBC only had one bowl tie in (the new orleans bowl) and back then that was where the SBC champion automatically went. north texas had won the inaugural SBC title outright and had a losing record. They were granted a waiver to play so the sunbelt wouldn't breach their contract with the New Orleans bowl

they were NOT an FBS transitional program (like GA Southern is).

The rule sucks, but until they go to amend it (which i promise won't happen until during the offseason and wouldn't take affect for another year or two) their's nothing that can be done for y'all.

BUT... as it has already been stated on there that was in regards to when North Texas won the conference title, but was 5-6 overall and had to get a waiver to play for bowl which the sunbelt was contractually obligated to provide.

Ga Southern doesn't fall into that rule because you guys are in your last year of FCS-FBS transition, as such still fall into the category of not being eligible for post season play (UNLESS their aren't enough teams to fill bowls) which WON'T be the case this season.

I actually suggested that we do a deal where the Cajuns play LaTech for one half and then Georgia Southern for the other. You guys would get the second half so it would be kinda fair.

UL didn't come up with the pre-season hype, the coached and media did. Then you can't predict the season ending injuries during pre-season

The way this place works. A Georgia Southern fan says something slightly controversial or something someone else doesn't like. Twenty people tell us how totally stupid that is. Our three or four bad posters take the bait and actually say something stupid. A few of our good posters try to mop it up with facts/ valid opinions. All opinions are shot down. The good Southern posters get fed up with it and turn into bad posters.
