First, some tweets from Arkansas Democrat Gazette sports reporter, Troy Schulte:

"Sun Belt process is held up as New Orleans Bowl waits for Georgia Southern's waiver appeal. Rest of country held up until CFP makes picks."

"Just talked with ASU AD Terry Mohajir about ASU's bowl prospects. Said this year's bowl picture is a bit more muddled than in year's past."

"Mohajir said he spoke with GoDaddy and Camellia folks today. Has also spoken with those from ESPN Events, an offshoot that owns 11 bowls."

LOL!! Yep, the UL football staff has been told they were playing a MWC team. The NO Bowl Exec. Director Billy Ferrante was standing on the sideline talking to Cajun supporters. Source?

Georgia Southern will get no waiver, there are too many eligible bowl teams. Not buying your legitimate source.

The Legit Source is our beat writer.

I'm sure you guys have been given a wink wink nudge nudge invite, but it cant be made official until after the GS Waiver is taken care of. Hence this update.

So basically he is stating the obvious, nothing will be official until Dec. 7th, but he has no knowledge of private conversations or assurances. Okay, I buy that but it sounds like he is simply stating the obvious. So this reliable source is really not saying anything that is not a matter of public record is he? That's what beat writers do, quote things that are on the record. He hasn't a clue beyond that, thanks.

No, he's saying it will probably be done by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest...we just cant do anything until the NCAA rules on GS.

I'm liking it, but I'd be more upset (not really upset, but you get it) if Texas State accepted a Camelia bowl invite only next week to find out Armed Forces bowl or Heart of Dallas was hunting for an at-large.

That would then mean all four bowl eligible teams could go.

Just do what LaTech did. Look down your nose and tell them to cool their jets while you wait for a better offer and that you'll get back to 'em. Worked out swell for the Dogs.03-lmfao

While I wouldn't put it past our AD to do something stupid like that... I'm cautiously hopeful he will do what he should here, and do the following:

1. Shut up
2. Say thank you
3. Sign on the dotted line.

Honestly... Screw this.
I absolutely can blame them. They're a ridiculous thorn in the side of everyone not because of their performance, but because they are as cocky as they come. They remind me of hog fans. And Georgia Southern is going to get an appropriate nickname from me as soon as I think of one that fits perfectly. In due time.

One thing is for sure, I will always and forever have the perception that GS is a whiny infant with "little man" syndrome.

Hell of a first season you guys had, but I literally couldn't care less. You're annoying as hell.

I'm not gonna blame them for trying I'm sure any team that were in their position would go through the appeal process as many times as they could

If the decision does come tomorrow (which seems to be the rumored case) and they are denied again, I hope they'll just drop it, celebrate their conference crown and let the bowls make their bids

They do what they do deliberately. Interacting with them when they are in little kid mode leads absolutely nowhere.

Georgia Southern knew the rules before the season started, as did App State. If they wanted to protest this, they should have done it then. Now everybody else has to wait on this fruitless campaign.

UTSA was turned down last year just as Georgia Southern will be refused now. There is no way the NCAA denies some other school a bowl invite this late by moving the goal posts to accommodate Georgia Southern.
Meanwhile, everyone else will lose time to either make travel arrangements or lobby for an at-large bid.

However you slice it, this is not good for the conference.

Is that really a concern for anybody in this conference, from the head man on down?

My thoughts exactly. You Knew all year you were not going bowling even at 12-0.. The Ncaa has denied the waiver but Gaso appealed after conference tittle became clear. It won't help them rules clearly states only in shortage can a transition team participate. They have no leg to stand on.

YOU as a fan are not waiting on a single thing. Bowl teams aren't announced until 12/7, so if you know before then, you're ahead of schedule. You're not "waiting" because you don't know early.

You'd be wrong there. If the bowls were set to announce tomorrow, but can't because of this waiver... Then YES, as a fan, we are waiting. Waiting to make purchases, travel arrangements, request time off from work, etc.

I'm still fine with the waiting, and still don't fault Georgia Southern for appealing.

But yes, it is causing people to wait.

Man... you guys are having a pretty impressive circle-jerk over all this.

I don't expect GS to get into a bowl, nor will I hate the NCAA for denying us. But our AD said it best when addressing the appeal. We owe it to the players to exhaust any and every recourse to recognize their achievements and give them every opportunity to accomplish as much as possible.

Sure, we're asking the NCAA to consider changing (or exempting us from) a rule, but it's simply that - a request. It's not like we have some sort of leverage we can wield against the NCAA that puts us at an advantage over everyone else. If there is even a 1% chance that it could be approved, we'd be idiots not to be lobbying the NCAA.

Also, I don't see how this makes us whiny children. Don't even try to tell me that any of your respective fan bases wouldn't be doing the exact same thing if you were in our shoes.

Waiver will be denied tomorrow --- you can almost bet the house on it. I think the bowls already know who they are inviting and it will be done tomorrow. Louisiana to NO Bowl, Ark. St. to either GoDaddy or Camilla and either Texas St. or South Alabama to the other Alabama bowl.
