Chip Brown has been proven to be full of **** multiple times.

Again, as average as the Aggies may be this season they are still better than the horrible little Lamehorns.

Believe me, A&M wants to compete with Texas for recruits but they do NOT want to meet them on the field. More often than not Texas stomped the Aggies. If they avoid actually playing the game they can peddle the idea that they are equals or superiors (even though Texas probably beat them 80% of the time when they played)...

Chip has real sources. Before he moved to the internet, he was actually a newspaper reporter. They may feed him **** for their own reasons, but he doesn't make stuff up himself like some other internet bloggers.

At least Houston, like Rice, TCU, Baylor and Texas, still has a mathematical chance at a conference title. Not all former SWC members do. The others have losing records in conference.

Wait are you bragging about the possibility of One True Champion actually being 4 teams all tied for co-champ and absolutely no chance of the Little 10 being in the playoff because of it

Hope it comes true!

But he doesn't vet his information like some, but not most, reporters still do. And therein lies his issue. If he simply refused to print until a third party substantiated he would have more credibility.

That isn't his purpose though and that isn't what Bullet is saying. He serves his masters. He CANT have his stuff vetted. That would reveal his source(s).

Of course he won't reveal his source.

When he says "close to the situation" he means he walked across the street to the UT AD office and found two assistants there willing to say "oh yeah, the SEC is totes for real trying to keep A&M from playing us!"

If you've seen either team play this year you know A&M wants no part of big brother Longhorn.

Possible but come on....higher up administrators can be petty too. Big dollar donors can be even more petty. His source(s) doesn't necessarily have to be folks that work for the school.

Oh sure, his "source" could be any number of UT employees or alums that will say what he wants to hear to create a provocative story in the media.

That's a fair assessment.

Second, teams have done things like this with bowl matchups. When the Liberty Bowl had the SEC and CUSA, the SEC got a guarantee that there would never be an in-state matchup like USM vs. Ole Miss or UCF vs. Florida. And you can be sure that if there was a Big Ten/MAC bowl, the Big Ten wouldn't permit the bowl to match Michigan with Western Michigan or Illinois with Northern Illinois. Etc., etc.

Exactly.

I would imagine that the ACC would do the same for NC State and/or Duke this year if it appeared they were going to be matched up with ECU in one of our bowls with an AAC tie-in.

I recall a game between NC State and ECU that was very well attended and virtually saved the Peach Bowl from an early demise.

Early demise? That was the 27th game in the series and it had already been announced that the bowl was moving to the Georgia Dome when it opened the next season.

That was also in a day and time when the ACC only had control over one bowl, the Citrus. NC State accepted the Peach Bowl that year of it's own accord. The ACC tie-in didn't start until the 1993 season when Clemson met Kentucky, two years after the game you are referencing.

Hawg you'll likely get your wish. Guess who is the head of the selection committee this year? Arkansas AD Jeff Long! So that means Arkansas gets their choice of bowl they are eligible for.

And you know he wants a Texas vs Arkansas bowl. It would reinvigorate the Hog fan base and help Arkansas' Texas recruiting to come in and humiliate the horns in Houston.
