Question about next year's football schedule
Some of you who have been around longer than us maybe can answer this: Will the same Tuesday/Thursday, Friday games be scheduled on 1 of the ESPN networks next year.

I know the teams may change but what I am asking is will the Thursday games be on weeks 1, 5, 10 and 13 like this year?

Tuesday games were on weeks 8 and 9.

Tuesday games were on weeks 8 and 9.

The conference sends ESPN the schedule rough draft, and then ESPN selects the games and what dates they want them. Conference them moves games around to make them all work.

Its very likely the ULL/ASU game, if it stays on Tuesday, will be the 3rd Tuesday in October as always, (I think ESPN selects Tuesday games early because teams need an open date around them) but the Thursday/Friday dates generally move.

I think it'll be a lot like this year. TXST/UL, UL/stAte, TXST/stAte, GS/App. These are some of the more interesting match ups and have been decently attended.

RE: Question about next year's football schedule
I am just hoping next year we do not have 2 mid-week home games. We only had 5 home games this year and 2 of them were on Thursday nights (Troy and App. St.).

Next year we do have 6 home games but I am hoping only 1 is not on Saturday.

It's good for the conference to have App/GS on Thursday and I'd bet us and Ga State might be a Thursday just because we proved to be a good show and who knows what that game will look like next year?

Other homes are NMSU, Texas St., and USA, Western MI and Citadel. I think we get 2 Thurs again App and GaSt

I hope we never get two weekday games at home in a season again. Sucks it was against probably what would have been the two best attended conference games.

Ratings say those are the top draws...so I would guess you are probably right. I expect the Georgia Southern non Saturday home game will be Texas State, and my hunch is that the ULL/Texas State game goes back to Saturday. ESPN puts GS/App and ULL/ASU on Tuesday and pushes them as the SBC's biggest rivalries.

Thursday Picks: NC State at USA (OOC) Texas State at GS Texas State at stAte, Troy at ULL, USA at Troy

Tuesday Picks: GS at App State, ULL at stAte

Thoughts: Just about One OOC game every year gets moved to Thursday just about for an ESPNU game. The only two real options this year are Missouri at stAte and NC State at USA. I don't think Missouri will want the Jonesboro games moved to a Thursday, as it would hurt their own fan support. NC State probably doesn't care. ESPN may opt to keep both on a Saturday, but that's something to think about.

Conference wise, Numbers showed that GS and App drew healthy ratings for its ESPNU game. Its a fierce rivalry and I still insist that the Thursday game was a Test to see how successful a TV game would be. My guess is they want it on a Tuesday next year. App hates sacrificing a weekend home game, but would do it for a major ESPN broadcast, provided they do not lose any other home game to midweek.

Troy, ULL, and Arkansas State are your other three big draws in the league. You can expect all on TV at least once, probably twice. I think the league tips USA/Troy again for a Thursday or Friday Night game, and puts Troy's trip to Cajun Field on a Thursday.

stAte gets the short end of the stick and gets to host two non Saturday home games. By the school's request, Texas State is placed in the middle of deer season since attendance would be down anyway.

No, no please no. I hope we never play a Tuesday. Thursday is good but Tuesday games are just reserved for the s**t of FBS football.

Thanks, we have played stAte on a Tuesday 2 years in a row, we have had both Tuesday games 3 years in a row. You play on espn when espn tells you to play on espn.

I'm not sure anyone has ever tried. Its the only game in town, it's national tv. It kills attdce. If u lose, Wednesday is a really long day.

Try again. You got a little obnoxious telling us newbies how terrible we were going to be this year, so you made the ignore list. You seemed to have lessened your stance lately.

Yeah, I've listened to interviews before the TXST/UL Tuesday night game and both ADs and coaches are very supportive of the game. The exposure is worth more then the awkward night. Coach Hud is a huge fan so I see UL playing them anytime they are asked.

Sure...but then ESPN can decide not to offer you any TV games other than the ESPN3 games, and you lose valuable program exposure.

People make fun of our ESPN2 deals on Tuesday Night, but at least we aren't the MAC. They play Tuesday and Wednesday home games in November, and their games this week got bumped to ESPN3.

If you hate midweek games, I suggest dropping back to FCS, because every G5 league has a midweek TV deal of some sort.

Are you sure about that? I'm not sure you can turn it down. Espn has the contract. Remember a couple years ago when they moved our game up to 2:30 for TV? And it was 1500 degrees and everyone almost died? We didn't have a choice in that. If we did I promise you we wouldn't have agreed to move it up.

I'm also pretty sure those mid week games are what gave Louisville its quick growth in football which lead to much more athletic and academic donations coming in to the school. It's a very good way to get your non-local alumni to become reinvigorated and get back involved in your school. JMO
