Gasol trade?
If Grizz could trade Marc Gasol, Quincy Pondexter, and John Luer to LAL for Jordan Hill, Nick Young, Julius Randle, and their 1st Round pick...should they do it? Would save them $31M over 4 years and they get younger. Gasol could leave anyway and then we're screwed...

RE: Gasol trade?
It would give us Randle and their first round pick, which could be a great pick, but I would hate to see this happen.

RE: Gasol trade?
I don't think Marc leaving in FA should be a risk our FO is willing to take. He's either 100% solid in his commitment to stay here or he's on the trade block. That's how I see it. Not sure about Wallace.

The Grizz would be bottomfeeders for years if he left. I'll be on pins and needles come July of next year.

Nope. I'm a Grizz fan.

He can get $20M/ year in a major market. I don't think he stays if that's the case. If december rolls around and he won't sign an extension...we gotta look at trading him, no? Just to see what's out there...

Gotta be a better deal out there. Gasol is easily considered a top 10 player in the NBA, and by many to be the best center in the league. YOU gotta do better than a rookie, a (solid) bench player (Nick Young), and at best a quality back up Center (Jordan Hill).

I just don't see one out there. There are only a few viable trade partners (assuming he will only resign with a major market team).

On top of that, teams will know we are trading him b/c he isn't expected to resign with us so they won't want to give up assets when they can simply wait and sign him during free agency.

I guess we could offer him to CHI for Noah, not sure they'd do it. Makes sense though. Outside of that, maybe to Golden State for Klay Thompson, but they wouldn't give him up for Kevin Love.

New York and Brooklyn don't have anyone we'd want. Same goes for Boston. At least in the LAL deal we get young players and a 1st Round pick that should be really high.

when did it become common knowledge that Gasol would not sign with the Grizzlies?

That way you have Griffey and Bonds, in the same outfield! Now you got

RE: Gasol trade?
Gasol needs to wait until the end of the year to sign an extension...doing so allow him to make a LOT more money. He'd be foolish and irresponsible to sign now.

The big TV $$$ will come into play, so the Griz WILL have the money to sign him to a revised MAX deal.

Trading him would be a MAJOR step back, and Pera isn't going to do that, I don't believe.

RE: Gasol trade?
For the record, I don't want to trade Marc Gasol. I'm just saying...if he tests FA I don't think we will get him. At that point, we lose our franchise player for nothing. I guess that's a risk we have to take...
