It is a little strange too see the return of ETSU and VMI.

Note though: WCU has gotten pretty good. They dang near beat South Fla. this year and their offense looks a lot like ours.

FYI for those who don't know. Their WR coach is Jaybo Shaw (our QB from two years ago, Conner Shaw's big brother).

I don't know how anybody can question the move to the SB after the way everything has evolved but I will miss the FCS playoffs... that was fun and the only real good thing about FCS.

Actually, It would be fun to see this GaSo team get a shot at this years NDSU team in the FCS playoffs. Might have stopped their run to 4.05-mafia

It would be interesting to see where we are if we stay FCS. Because if we do, we do not have Fritz as our HC. I'm sure we would still be good, but it would be interesting to know how things would have turned out.

Chattanooga was a frequent "might move I-A" name in the early 90's. Then their name popped up in 2004 when we were expanding and I thought heck yeah then I saw their records. They weren't the program I remembered.

We only played them 7 times and we won 5, their last win was in game 3, it was one of the worst rains I've ever sat through. We got up 2-0 and looked like that might be enough. We traded punts and we even punted on third down a few times. Late in the game we fumbled deep in our territory and they ended up kicking a FG.

Weird deal was we played four games 1981-84. First two in Jonesboro last two there. It was either the 83 or 84 game (think it was 84) it was tight at half and the second half they came out and switched from the I to the wishbone and we shut them down. We were already a wishbone team so no big whoop. Played them twice in 84 hosting them in the playoffs.

They used to have a goofy stadium. On one side the stands went from the end zone to the 50 and then ended around the 35.

That was a weird design. It doesn't look like that now (or at least what it looked like the last time I was there..about 8 years ago).

That was old Chamberlain Field and it was unique. It opened in 1908 and really was a cool place to watch a game. It was right in the middle of campus and Chattanooga had a lot of success in that old place. The visiting team side was built on the back of a dorm that was cut short due to a lack of money. The press box side corner of one endzone rose about a foot from the field and the opposite endzone had a 2 foot high stone wall about 10 feet from the backline. Saw a lot of players get knocked into that thing. Tone of history in that old place. Most every SEC team played there including Georgia with Heisman winner Frank Sinkwich and the Louisville Cardinals QB'd by Johnny Unitas. Steve Spurrier and Paul Horning played high school games there. I watched several App games there and it was a very unique environment. The team dressed in the old gym 100 yards down the street and had to walk through the fans to the stadium. Some of the more rowdy fans took advantage of that situation and heckle the players as they walked to the stadium. KInda to hate seeing those old stadiums with character replaced by the sanitary environments of today.

I just want some team to beat that dang NDST. Those guys haven't lost in 3-4 years. Love the playoff system though. No doubt who the champ is at the end of that.
